Upgrade for an ATI Radeon 4870

I'm looking for an upgrade to my ATI Radeon 4870 512mb graphics card.

It needs 1gb of memory and DirectX11 compatible. My max price is $250, so while the 5870 looks really nice I'm not looking to spend $420.

Right now I'm looking at a ATI 5770, but I'm really not sure what would be a good, but reasonably priced upgrade.

Other related build information:
Intel i7
8GB DDR3
1000w Modular Power Supply

Well the 5850 Is probably going to be best bang for the buck with an eye towards performance. But that is about $300.

The 5830 Should beat out the 5770 and is almost exactly $250.

    I like this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121367

Well, really $300 isn't that bad if that's big of a performance boost.

Edit: Screw it. I'm going with the 5850. Looking at the specs, I can justify to myself spending $50 more. I wish I could justify spending $150 more for the 5870, but the difference between it and the 5850 don't seem that great to my untrained eye.

What the hell do you do that requires all that performance? I have a 4870 and it can run pretty much every game I have on max resolution and detail on a 24" monitor.

Honestly nothing important. I just got a nice bonus and after putting some of it away and paying off bills, I decided to upgrade.

5850 is the card you're looking for.

They are a little bit overpriced right now (MSRP 260, actual price 300-320) due to lack of midrange competition from Nvidia, but the 5830 is a bad buy.

The 5770 wouldn't have been much faster than your 4870. The 5850 was a good choice to get a noticeable difference.
