Lookouts Part 3 of 6 for Friday, April 30, 2010
Posts
I mashed up the elk bugling video from earlier in the thread with this barn owl hissing video and now I can't sleep. Terrifying.

I thought the monster had the head of a Snowy Owl, but it looks closer to a Barn Owl.
looks to me as more like jumping back in time to when the master fought it as a boy.
Hence "A Boy Must Learn". I dunno. likely wrong.
i think shoe has got it right, its the same kid in every panel.
those horns would make quite the centerpiece over a fireplace
That's a badass frame if ever there was one
It's interesting in that it works on the level of a children's story and a story about children at the same time.
AND YOU FOOLS VOTED FOR AUTOMATA. BECAUSE ROBOTS?

I voted for Automata because I wanted to see what Gabe and Tycho would do with the concept, because it was so well outside what they usually do.
Looking forward to when they get back to it.
Also I am loving this story arc.
this comic is fantastic.

it's film noir with robots
the fuck is wrong with you?
I voted for Lookouts but Automata was amazing and we got a lookouts comic too
jeez
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Also a fresh concept
I'm sorry I just hate Automata

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?
Automata was fantastic, how dare you speak such blatant lies? o_O :x
2. sci-fi noir
are really really played out. A lot.

I would like this, but the kid in the 3rd panel looks like the red haired kid from the main four to me.
and brightly colored fantasy adventure with unrealistically young protagonists isn't?
cause I mean
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I really don't think the handful of books/movies that can be called sci-fi noir qualifies as "really really played out".
Sounds like you just have a really low tolerance for the concept.
I'm pretty sure it is the same kid. It appears he was running away from the guy with the monster mask, and stumbled onto the real monster.
Maybe that's just to straightforward to be true, though. I suppose he could just be imagining that the guy is the real monster.
But it's a different season. I mean, there are leaves on the trees and then it's snowing. It's a different time. He's remembering his training.
Edit - I say this in response to Caulk Bite, silly goose.
Of course the best of both Lookouts and Automata, a terrifying robot:

The owl/elk/leopard now haunts me!
They did say that they went up a mountain, and the shots of the trees don't really show the bits that would have leaves on. Could just be a transition above the snowline.
:^:
even the text makes this easy to figure out
I hope they never succumb to the temptation to Buckley their work for the sake of people that can't make inferences from what's implied
