OK, so I bought WoW: Burning Crusade Collector's Edition at Best Buy moments ago. It's 7:08PM EDT. WTF?! I was told by all the major gaming blogs and news sites that it was preorder ONLY, preorders were long sold out, and as far as I know, Best Buy never did preorders for anyway (obviously, they would receive none of the Collector's Edition copies). Therefore, they convinced me that it wasn't worth trying and thereby nearly caused me to miss my opportunity.
This is not the first time I've heard such misinformation. Instead of walking out with the very last copy and nearly missing it, I would have gone in this morning had I not been misinformed. Gaming journalism sucks.

I was just at EB and they had stacks of them. They also had a REALLLLLY cute girl working there who I hadn't seen before.

I'll find out next time I see her there. Slow and steady wins the race. She did just move here in October from Boston so probably not. I doubt she's been taken by any one of the horde of mouthbreathers I see in that store when I walk by...

Her: That'll be $54.56, please.
You: Do you accept credit card?
Her: Yes.
You: Good. Here's mine, with a $10,000 limit. Great for dating and buying expensive gifts and things for women. And that's only one. I have many more.

You: Do you...want my signature...or...my...phone number?

Her: Sorry, but I hate men! You're all cowards! Cowards!
You: But, wait, please, no, I didn't mean any-
Her: YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SISTER!
You: But that wasn't me! I don't even know your sister! I just wanted to ask you out on a date! I swear!

Pretty sure she does since she commented on Rogue Galaxy like she did. I have no problems with women, it's finding one that plays video games and is fairly attractive, that's the problem.

I'm so excited, I was unable to preorder the WoW:BC CE before preorders sold out, but through some *cough* connections I have at gamestop I'm going to be able to buy an elusive extra copy!
Isn't gamestop's policy three days on preorders? meaning starting tomorrow they'll be selling the preordered CE's and saying screw you to people that took too long?

"Sharing?" I was "informing." I was misinformed and didn't act. My intentions were to inform people that there WAS still a chance that, despite what we were hearing everywhere else, you could walk into a store and get it rather than sitting around passively after missing the preorders like I did. That's why I stressed that this happened "just now [then]" so that others interested would know that it was not dated information.
Hey! Guess what I ate today? You'll never believe it. I stopped at Sonic and got an extra long coney dog with cheese. It doesn't say so, but it comes with chili too. That bitch tried to sell me my combo with fries but I put her in her place and told her "no." Only tot's for my combo. "Tots" is short for "'tater tots," which is also short for "potatoe tots." Don't ask me what "tots" means.
That's not all though. After that, she asked me what kind of soda I wanted. That's right... SODA! At SONIC. Only retards and their moms order soda at Sonic. I got a delicious Raspberry Bannana smoothie but the hard seeds kept getting stuck in my teeth. I think I've still got some in there and that was at 11:00AM (it's 10:30PM now)! It was awesome though. Except for the bannana that kept getting stuck in my straw. I'd tear and suck up bannana by the chunk but there was still loads left in the bottom when I finished it. I wonder if they use reduced rotten bannanas? It's be a shame to use shelf-worthy pretty bannanas, but it's kinda nasty to think about what may be in the drink.
Oh, and I got some chili on my shirt. No biggie though. I just buttoned up a long-sleeve shirt over it and went to class. It was kinda cold and windy anyway. I wonder if anyone smelled chili on me?
Now THAT'S a "Thanks for sharing, but how can we possibly use/apply this?" Post.

at best buy at least, collector's editions are not just for preorders. My best buy still has collector's lost planet, gears of war, and enchanted arms (I think it's that).
They just order a shitload. It's actually awesome because I don't worry about finding them anymore

Collectors editions of those games are quite easy to find.
WoW on the other hand is it's own affair.

i'm shooting blanks on my facts tonight... nevermind then.
Yeah. Based on the "preorders ONLY" info being spouted everywhere, it would only indicate that Best Buy wouldn't carry the Collector's Edition. That wouldn't be surprising (many preorder offers are exclusive), but they did. It's not like Best Buy ever sold a single copy of Metal Gear Sold 3 Subsistance Collector's Edition.
If anybody is near a Fry's, you should try there. As of yesterday Fry's still had about a couple hundred boxes of CE's stacked up all over the store in huge cubes. Granted this was at a location that had a signing event, and Fry's are hard to find if you aren't on the west coast...but still thought it was worth mentioning. Maybe you can have someone local snag you a few copies.
And there is always eBay. The price seems to have dropped on the CE's to a considerably reasonable $90. They were going for $250+ a week ago.
We got the labels and a paper from headquarters about Burning Crusade CE but I have yet to see any. Then again, I had the release date off so we may just have sold out. (Target, so no preorders.)
I was just over in the WoW forum but I thought I'd drop by here.
I ordered two CEs (one for me, one for the wife). All is good. However, I got a copy of the CE from work for a project I did. Anyone in the lower mainland still need one? Straight (Canadian) retail price - no gouging.
If no one wants it, I'm just going to keep it. The idea of Ebaying something like this strikes me as... evil.
OK, I was passing this off at-cost to Tulkas, but he's not answering. If anyone else wants it at-cost, let me know. BTW, I saw another weeks later at Target. *shocked*
I strolled into my local mall videogame store a week ago, asked if they had any Burning Crusades. Guy gave me a little shifty eye look and produced a Burning Crusade Collectors edition signed by Metzen, and three other blizzard employees. He sold it to me for the standard CE price.
Yeah, he totally made a customer for life right there.

I swear!
Her: A date? A date? You chauvinist pig!
...Er, sorry, I got a little carried away with my EB feminist fanfiction there. Still, you can see why this is a bad idea. Stay away. From women. They are maneaters.
Unless she plays games, though. Then hit it raw.
Pretty sure she does since she commented on Rogue Galaxy like she did. I have no problems with women, it's finding one that plays video games and is fairly attractive, that's the problem.
Of course, then there's the problem of getting her before anyone else.
Slow and steady is too damn slow.
Well, I'm not gonna roll in and just ask her out on day one. Maybe later this week. I work on Saturday night, so...
This is quite the derail.
could we stop talking about how you talked to a cute woman, please
:rotate:
Thanks...for...sharing?
(Do you even play World of Warcraft?)

Hah. I'm a bartender. I have more girl on me interaction than I know what to do with. :P
You live with your parents, you're getting quite chubby, you are 26 years of age, and you have a night elf tattoo'd somewhere on your foreskin.
There. Now you fit into the demographic!
[spoiler:68652973ab]I'm just being a bitch. I play WoW too. The example stereotype may or may not be me.[/spoiler:68652973ab]
They just order a shitload. It's actually awesome because I don't worry about finding them anymore
Collectors editions of those games are quite easy to find.
WoW on the other hand is it's own affair.
And there is always eBay. The price seems to have dropped on the CE's to a considerably reasonable $90. They were going for $250+ a week ago.
So yeah, the collectors isn't preorder only.

I ordered two CEs (one for me, one for the wife). All is good. However, I got a copy of the CE from work for a project I did. Anyone in the lower mainland still need one? Straight (Canadian) retail price - no gouging.
If no one wants it, I'm just going to keep it. The idea of Ebaying something like this strikes me as... evil.
Yeah, he totally made a customer for life right there.
Sweet You owe the Universe a bit of karma for that one, methinks. Go out and do a good deed.
Man, there's this really cute girl working at the EB near me as well.
I'm all like "wtf are you doing here?"
The CE comes with:
-Cool CE Box
-Special netherwhelp pet
-Hardcover BC Artbook (Really neat)
-CD & DVD installation formats
-BC Soundtrack
-2 WoW CCG Starter Packs
It is $70.
