Going to Dubai for a weekend (or help me kiss a girl in public and get arrested)

So i'm going to Dubai next weekend. I will visit the world's tallest building, go to some opulent malls and go to some sand dunes. I've read the wikitravel article. Any suggestions from anyone on the forums who is in the know about fun things to do in Dubai?

Also I've been living in a somewhat backwater location for a while now and wouldn't mind getting my drank on. Anyone know of any good clubs in Dubai?

The open air market/bazaar was really neat. It was just so very different than anything I'd been to before. That's the thing that really stood out to me.

I'd suggest using the bus system for getting around. My friends and I always seemed to get ripped off whenever we took a taxi.

As for places to drink, I don't remember exactly where it was, but there was a hotel downtown with a Sizzler attached that had a really nice bar. This was like 10 years ago though, so who knows if it's even still there.

I hope you have a good time, it was one of the better places I went while doing circles in the Gulf during my Navy time.

Dont you have to be very, very careful with alcohol in Dubai? As in its illegal?

Also read the thread in D&D about Dubai. Someone said don't drink the water since they dump their sewerage in the same ocean they get their water for the desalination plant and it makes your hair fall out.

You can buy it at any bar, club, restaurant etc. Basically anything attached to a hotel will sell alcohol. Can't buy it in the shops, and can't drink it in public. Drinking age is 21 surprisingly. It is illegal for muslims obviously.

If you're staying somewhere nice you can drink the water but its the most costly water on earth for various reasons. If you want to swim at a beach I suggest finding one very far away from the city itself. Do your research and make sure the beach you're going to is clean. Dubai does have a serious waste problem as they have no sewer system. Thousands of septic tanks and only one wastewater treatment plant for the entire 1.3 million person population.

Basically just do plenty of research and know what to avoid. If you're swimming at a bad beach the possibility of typhoid or hepatitis is very real. It sucks, but we're talking about a city that went from 1200 people to 1.3 million in less than eighty years. Much of that growth was seen in the last three to four decades.

No dancing with girls at clubs. Seriously. They'll come separate you. Even at the trendy mega clubs.
