So at the suggestion of many people i have been reading through Terry Pratchett's watch series. alas i am coming to the end of this run and will probably move on to some of his other discworld books after i read some of the tie in books. was thinking of going with the Death works. Will likely read them all eventually.

What would you guys recommend going to next?

Death (starting with Mort) the Witches (starting with Equal Rites, technically, but you can skip that and start with Wyrd Sisters) or Ankh-Morpork/Industrial Revolution (starting with Moving Pictures). Personally, I would save the Ankh-Morpork books for last because they're the ones that are getting the most new books.

I'd go with admanb's suggestion. I personally like the witches better and they segue very nicely into the Tiffany Aching series, but that's just me.

Another vote for admanb's suggestion, with the suggestion of witches first because they're better.

I would suggest the industrial Revolution-series (moving picture->) as their story lines connects most closely to watch series.

Or Small gods. It doesn't belong to any series, but is considered one of the best discworld novels.

I rather enjoyed the Going Postal and Making Money books myself.

I recommend the Tiffany Aching series if you're in the mood of something more lighthearted then Prachett usual lighthearted-ness. Though, it's targeted more towards young adults if that's a problem for you.

I'll back the Witch arc and Small Gods- it really is one of the best.

I'd do Witches before Aching though.

And yeah, if you haven't read it, Small Gods would be an excellent break in between series.

Oh, yes! Good idea. Read Small Gods, then the Witches. Small Gods will make Carpe Jugulum even more awesome.

I really liked Thud! but I'd recommend you progress with the City Watch books rather than skipping ahead.

    Carpe Jugulum

It's the only Pratchett book I couldn't finish, although others have liked it.

Another vote for small gods then the witches. If you want to break it up go with the first two witches, then small gods then break out the rest.

Also don't miss out on Monstrous Regiment it's one of the odds and ends books.

Definitely the witches. They are hilarious! Equal Rites is pretty meh and I don't think it does much other than introduce the witches, but then the later books do that as well. Though I did enjoy the second half of the book, while the first half dragged on and on.

Obviously you should read all of the Pratchett books in the end. As someone who has been through them multiple times, just go with whatever you think sounds fun. They are all fantastic.

no i plan on reading all of them. once i start a series i tend to read all of them no matter what. its the completionist in me.
i might just read the mort books next since they have a loose connection to the watch arc, then i will read the small gods, then witches

To go against the grain here, I found a lot of the Death (really the Susan) books to be more fun than the witches, but yeah, I'd second picking up some of the one offs like Small Gods. I really liked Going Postal and Thief of Time :)

It's two or three books behind, but they all come at the end of previous series' so it doesn't change anything.

I love Death, I just love the Witches a little bit more.

Small Gods then witches but skip Equal Rites because its one of the few bad books in the series and is basically never referenced again.
