What is it?
Take 99% of the gameplay from The Legend of Zelda for NES, add in 11% of the gameplay from Ginormo Sword, and make an art style that rips off LEGO so bad it might as well be MEGA Bloks and there you have 3D Dot Game Heroes
What's the story?
There's a force of evil and you have to defeat it. Oh, and the world used to be 2D sprites but the King of Dotnia thought they didn't look cool so he turned it 3D.
How awesome is it?
So awesome, apparently! It's gotten great reviews and is said to have around 30+ hours of gameplay, which you can't beat for $40. It's also hard, unlike many games that come out these days.
It's the type of game you wish Nintendo made these days but they're too busy making Wii Fit Sports Kit Plus

I really want this game, but I am already getting Red Dead Redemption.
I hope to get this game some time soon though. It looks awesome. And I somehow made it this far in life without playing a Zelda game for than five minutes. I guess this game is super influenced by the Zelda games, so that is a thing.

This game isn't influenced by Zelda. It is Zelda, except it's dressed up as a parody/homage and given a few gimmicks.

this is Zelda but instead of shooting sword beams with full health you have a huge sword. once you get hit (and I've heard it's a pretty tough game) you just have a normal sword

The only Zelda my room mate likes is the original, but he hasn't played much of it. Hopefully he flies through this so I can trade my Xbox for his PS3 for a while. Fuck I want to play this game so bad.
