The kit I purchased just shipped today. It should arrive next week. At that point I begin the assembling / painting process. I'm really excited for this project! Hopefully the mans come out looking spiffy. I'm going to take my time since we have until July 31st. I really want the models to look awesome for this person.

Well... fuck. I'm conflicted. I mean as a gift, it met the rules, and telling someone, 'your present isn't good enough, and you know what, my farts don't stink, smell the snickerdoodles!' is a real asshole thing to do, but two unopened blisters? I'm really, really not feeling the Christmas spirit. I just noticed that we didn't have any pictures in the op this time around, but this thread is all about gaming, and we've got discussion threads for just about everything under the sun, so if you need help with an idea, we're here.

Or oh hey, maybe Ein's Santa has another present on the way but had also ordered two smaller blisters in case Ein already had what he'd ordered, WHICH HE HAD, SO HIS SANTA HAD TO RETURN THE MAIN GIFT AND WAIT FOR A REPLACEMENT TO ARRIVE?

Oh WAIT, that's exactly what has happened, and I know this because he told me.

No editorialising about whether you feel a gift is poor in-thread please. If you have a problem with a particular gift then PM me.

I'll also point people to the part of the OP which says 'For guidelines, I'd suggest something like $10/£6 (or $15/£9-ish with shipping) as a minimum. The minimum price on the gift is there to mostly prevent someone from sending like a single arm, half a body or the random pages that fell out of someone's crappily produced D20 OGL book. If you wish to do so then by all means go as far above this minimum limit as you want.'

I appreciate that some people can be very generous with their gifts, but Santa believes that the thought counts more than the cash involved.

Gifts have been bought, just need the time to get a bit creative with the presentation. Hoping to get them in the mail next week.

This has been pretty fun so far.

I still don't know who my santa was! :P

I appreciate Gabe's sentiments, in any case, but I'm sure the fact that I already have a lot of shit makes my Santa's job that much more tedious. In any event, I'm glad my Santa ain't one of those deadbeats who joins up to the event and forgets all about it, and the Winter Guardsmen are appreciated.

Woo! My stuff came in the mail today.

My mystery Santa got me a box of Knights Exemplar for my Menoth force and a teeny tiny little brush that should help my unsteady hands get to all the little crevices I'm having trouble reaching as a n00b painter.

I'll post some pics tomorrow, busy night tonight.

    Thanks!

Which we know now. However, as the situation was presented, no mention of who it was from, no note, no post, not even a funny picture of orks super-imposed over a beach as explanation for why the box had two blisters in it, it looked a lot like someone going, 'man, I have no idea what I should do.' I wanted to be sure if anyone else was feeling that way, they knew that we were here to help.

Hi Gabriel, I'm the one who sent Ein the Winter Guard Officer and Standard Bearer. There is also ANOTHER package on the way with more goodies for Ein from me.

I originally went through Ein's blog at the-warforge.net and found his list of Khador. Somehow, I had a huge brain fart and didn't see the Great Bears listed, so I order that for Ein. I also at the same time sent a message to CF Santa asking him to confirm with Ein that he didn't have this set. This was last Friday (
    06/04/10)

On Monday evening, I received a PM from CF Santa relayed from Ein that he indeed did have the Great Bears of Gallowood. So I did the following:

    1) I ordered him the Officer and Standard Bearer per his list of things he would like. This was in case I had trouble changing the other order, as it possibly could have shipped at this point.
    2) I informed CF Santa of the situation.
    3) Although Amazon would not let me cancel or change the order, it hadn't shipped and was due to ship on Tuesday. So I wrote a message to the seller asking if I could change the order.

On Tuesday, they canceled the order, so I was able to change it to something that Ein could use for more than bitz. So, Ein has ANOTHER package coming with a much more generous amount of goodies. I won't spoil the suprise, but I definately think he will be happy. =-)

Please note that I have also provided CF Santa with the tracking numbers as they have been provided to me, as I don't want to be a deadbeat due to some shipping issue.

Also, I apologize for not having put my name on the package, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to add a message to be included through amazon, nor a gift option, as the item is through a third party seller and not Amazon.

I didn't want to come here and post out everything and ruin the surprise for Ein. I apologize for the confusion this has caused.

And Ein, I originally wanted to paint up something for you, but you're an amazing painter and modeler, and I didn't feel it was in the spirit of XMAS to make you strip the models once you received em. =o)

    *edit*

Gabriel_Pitt, had I read Ein's post and not known what was going on, I feel I would have had a similar reaction. No hard feelings from me. =-)

Well, I just bought my Santee's gift! Unfortunately, due to the International nature of the relationship I couldn't include a note or anything but I'm pleased with myself by finding something that combines both of the things they wanted in a single product. Someone should be getting a nice big fat box sometime in the near future.

As promised, here's a picture of my gift. I apologize for the crappy quality. I think I let someone borrow my digital camera and I've got no idea where the damn thing is. Cell phone cam is best I can come up with.

    0613002015.jpg

I'm looking forward to assembling and painting these bad boys once I get some practice on my Khador stuff first. I'm hoping to make my Menoth stuff my best looking army.

Next to the Errants is a very finely detailed brush, which my santa wisely sent me after reading some of my recent posts about having trouble with the teeny tiny parts that need painting.

    Thank you!

As a sidenote, I'm waiting on one more thing to come in, then I can mail out stuff to my recipient!

My santa continues to go above and beyond. I received a mystery box today from a game store that I didn't remember ordering from.

Of course, I've done this before when it's really late at night and the impulse buy urge hits when I'm surfing around ebay, so I didn't even expect it to be another gift.

    0614002256.jpg

Inside was a Reckoner, a heavy warjack for my upcoming Menoth force. I always thought the Reckoner looked pretty cool, because he carries around this frigging huge stick that he bashes things with. In a world where steam powered robots fire rockets and shoot electricity and blast fire, I have to respect a warjack that just hits something with a really heavy stick.

    Thanks, Santa!
