DDR2 RAM not clocking properly

Hey,

I'm using 2x2 GB Dual Channel Kingston DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM (part number 2G-UDIMM). I was looking at CPU-Z today and noticed that it's giving the DRAM frequency as 400 MHz, even though the settings I'm using (5/5/5/18) are supposed to give 800 MHz.

It also says "Max Bandwidth: PC2-6400 (400 MHz)", but PC2-6400 is supposed to be 800 MHz, isn't it?

Dunno how to screenshot, but it currently says

FSB: DRAM is 5:6. My processor is an E8400 dual-core (3 GHz, 6.0 MB L2 Cache, 1333 rated FSB, 333 Bus speed).

I tried manually setting the values to 5/5/5/18, but nothing changed. Memory clocking at 400 MHz is throttling my framerate in games (video card is a GTX 285, hard drive is 7200 RPM, plus the aforementioned processor).

I ordered non-cheapo overclocking memory (Corsair Dominator, DDR2 1066 MHz) so now I'm mostly just trying to figure this out to determine why it happened and to make sure it doesn't happen with the new memory. Anyone got any ideas why this is going on?

    The DRAM frequency listed in CPU-Z needs to be multiplied by two. In your case, your RAM is clocked at 800 MHz. To be honest, I was never quite sure why, but a Google search might be able to shed some light on that fact.
