I am new here and was having a look at this infraction thing, Most of what i have seen that were infractions i either completely cannot understand or i do not see as being the least bit offenseive.
And i want to understand this thing.
Also, are you slapped with an infraction just because somebody doesnt like you reports you or do the moderators have to aprove it?

There are also times when moderators just issue out infractions on arbitrary basis. IE, the goose rule, Christmas spirit, etc.

Honestly. The Penny Arcade forum rules are spelled out pretty clearly and there isn't anything vague about them. And if you really don't understand one then PM one of the mod's and ask them about it.
Seriously though these forums aren't like that other stuff out there. These aren't cesspools like xbox.com or yourfavoritegame.com/forums there are standards here especially if you aren't in SE.

In this forum if you see people get infracted without saying anything particularly offensive its probably because they have gone off topic. And Tube can infract people for whatever he feels like since PA is not a democracy.
Just read the rules, stay on topic and don't by into some people goating you for an arguement.
You will be fine, find topics your passionate about and there is a lot to be learnt and share, it's a fun community, I think with loads of nice people, and really funny people too, in general.

Yeah they're just warnings but the mods like to send them out as a joke at times. So just follow the rules and keep up a good sense of humor.
You could always ask them questions but obviously be polite cause they get a lot of shit from idiots that think they're entitled to the world and they don't need crap from you.
and you can and will be infracted for violating any of the secret rules, depending on the mod who notices your behavior
examples:
saying Journey is bad
hating canada
having testicles
edit: jailed people can edit their posts now!
Also I believe you're not allowed to praise hitman 2 or acknowledge it even being a game.

That could be because you're unfamiliar with The Glorious Edict.
The only acceptable insult anywhere on this forum is calling someone a "silly goose". Any other insult will get you an infraction.
Someone needs to write all these down somewhere.

For what? They all revolve around different subjects. They're not "general" forums.
Honestly, it depends on what you want to do
Talk about games/consoles/building PC's? Probably G&T, though there are subject-specific tech threads in both D&D and SE
Talk about comics or tabletop gaming? Critical Failures
Etc.
The descriptions on the main page under each subforum title are pretty accurate, and generally as long as you're not a dick and stay on topic you'll be fine anywhere on these boards.
I concur. It has actually endeared the PA forums even more to me.

It all started in a D&D thread. People were debating how the n-word is completely banned from the forums but so many other insults weren't. It ended up with people making an alright case and I guess lots of people PMed Tube about it since the next day the Glorious Edict appeared.

There are rules which apply in every forum, in addition to the rules which appear either in a sticky or an announcement in each individual forum, which apply only in that forum.
And the Glorious Edict is only "unwritten" in the sense that it is posted in an announcement at the top of every forum. This isn't rocket science.
In any case, this thread seems to be veering into D&D/SE++ territory. Feel free to PM any of the mods with any part of the rules you find confusing.
