I just started working at the local NPR affiliate as a host. Today I recorded some of the little one minute station i.d.s that play periodically during the national programming. People in four or five states are hearing my voice!
Really though Nichu, you calling someone's habits excessive, and then calling it a telltale sign of addiction when they say it isn't excessive, is pretty fucking silly.

Oh shit nice!
I would enjoy being part of something even as relatively minor as this. That's a cool thing.

why?
it could be circular if "see? this proves it" was the only reason i had
versus months and months of reading about someone's daily activities

I was ridiculously lucky to get this job. I happened to be in the station recording an advertisement with a couple of my professors and I asked the station manager which studio they were in. She showed me and then said "you have a really nice voice. You should put in a job application." I'm pretty sure she pulled some strings for me.
But it's awesome. Working in radio has been a dream of mine for years.
I get very hostile towards people that get drunk but look down on marijuana
i don't know anyone who gets drunk but looks down on marijuana
there are a ton in college, especially in the south. I offered a shitfaced girl my bowl and she ran out of the room. the next day as she was talking about how she was blackout she said was really proud for resisting my evil drugs (not to me obviously)

Holy shit that is like a picture perfect example of being in the right place at the right time.
This is like when I fantasize about making it in the music industry or something.
Like a record company exec's car breaks down right outside of the shitty bar that I'm playing a gig at and the rest is history.
I'm not even arguing about whether or not Abdy is an alcoholic, I'm just saying that Nichu's claim there was entirely circular.
I don't exactly care enough to analyze Abdy's past actions to say if he has problems
I'm just saying in this particular case you were doing the
A: You have a problem!
B: No I don't.
A: See! Denial! That's a telltale sign that you have a problem!
And that shit's annoying.
silliness
i have very good reason to think what i do- i am just appending to that for abd that maybe he should step back and look at the typical sequence of this particular problem. 'denial' and 'defensiveness' exist there. i'm not being all shitty and 'nya nya' and sticking out my tongue about it, so cut out the whinging.

That one guy who got a job by making a google ad that would link to his resume when someone typed in the name of the guy he wanted to work for?
That guy is brilliant.

God I hate that attitude. I don't care if someone makes the choice to not smoke, but it should be an educated choice.

Except you didn't say that at all. You said
i think that excessive fondness is excessive, but people don't like to hear their use labeled in a way that has a negative connotation
defensiveness is one of the telltale signs of alcoholism and stonerdom
And then backpedaled that into "Well I really mean that after analyzing his behavior I think he may have a problem, and was saying he should take a step back and..."
Which is cool, you can say that. But that's not what you originally said.

I just don't like it when someone makes a circular argument and then tries to amend it after being called out to make it seem like it was something else.
Yes I'm being stubborn here but when someone is telling me that they said something that they actually didn't say, it annoys me.

sure
i don't think i am, tho'
That makes me feel better about not having any witnesses.

they do include heroin use and sex with african immigrant whores, though
you're looking at a young grave, abd!
i don't know anyone who gets drunk but looks down on marijuana
but marijuana is illegal!
you have to follow the law!
or else you're a criminal!

This is like the prequel to Heart Condition with Denzel Washington and Bob Hoskins.
"Oh hi I'm a rough and kinda racist cop with a bad diet and a timebomb ticker!"
"And I'm a smooth black lawyer with shady connections!"
"Ooops I just had a heart attack, time for a transplant!"
"Ooops I just got murdered by someone I don't know!"
"Hey racist cop, you got a black man's heart in you now and his ghost is coming along for zany antics and to teach you to love other races!"
"DOH!"

That's your first mistake.
let's take a step back and look at today
I wasted most of the day doing shit and playing reach because it's been a while since I'd been able to do that
then I went out for a quick bite and a movie (brothers, sort of good, the danish original is better I've heard)
then I went with the people I was with to a barbeque outside our school (yeah, wierd I know, but hey)
I was given some drank by a girl there who wanted me to come go out with them afterwards
I declined since I wasn't in the mood to go out and drink today
and then I went home and watched Shaun of the dead.
Except you didn't say that at all. You said
And then backpedaled that into "Well I really mean that after analyzing his behavior I think he may have a problem, and was saying he should take a step back and..."

he's clarified it now, isn't that enough?
It happens, apparently. I'd never believe it if I weren't living it.

Yeah. I just get annoyed when someone tells me to cut the whinging because they made a silly statement to begin with and needed to clarify.
