so the original first draft of Empire is floating around in such places as here

uh

it's pretty different

for starters Luke and Leia aren't related and Vader ain't his father

also Lando's a clone from the Clone Wars which is totally different from what it ended up being

and Yoda (who's named Minch in this) summons Obi-Wan's ghost when Luke ends up on not-Dagobah and they totally lightsaber fight for a bit

so have a read and point all the shit you would have liked to see!

    Lucas' earlier films seem to be pretty good overall however that's probably attributed to having other people around him that played an element of quality control. The prequels were run exclusively by him basically with no one stepping up to say "uh hey something is kind of bunk about these," which is why they turned out the way they did.

    I want to clarify that I actually think Leigh Brackett's influence on the OT (although I know she died before Jedi, and I guess even before a second draft of this) is probably incalculably positive, but this draft which I'm reading now, I guess Lucas didn't even bother writing? He fed her an outline, and she's doing the best she can to make it dramatic.

    Seriously, reading stuff from the origional script of New Hope, lucas had some stupid/bat shit stuff in there. And people around him were like "this won't work, we can't do this, this dosnt test well" so it got reworked and lucas hated it so when he made the prequals he made sure no one would tell him differently

    Nope

    instead, you get both sides time-travelling to the 80's and getting alt-modes like the ones in the old cartoon

    it's still terrible, but better than whatever's coming out, which will have Skids and Mudflap again

    they're Michael Bay's favorite characters, you see, because he made them himself
    in addition, they weren't in Roberto Orci's or Alex Kurtzman's scripts

    Orci and Kurtzman are fine. They wrote the script to Star Trek, after all. They just need a better director.
