Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that this is the sequel to the ever popular StarCraft, a real time strategy used to determine how well you can be integrated into South Korea.
I thought this was in open beta?
The beta is currently closed but it may open back up in a couple weeks.
Read this for full details. (updated)
When is it coming out?
July 27th 2010
Will it run on my dumb Mac?
Yes it will!
What is this game even about?
StarCraft 2 continues to follow the epic saga of the brutal persecution of the Zerg by the vicious Terrans and the weirdly photosynthetic Protoss.
What is the Single Player Campaign like?
Read this article for some good info on the single player campaign. There was a good link with a bunch of video, but I can’t find it.
http://www.gamepro.com/article/previews/214941/starcraft-2-single-playerWho the hell even plays this?
Nobody right now, the beta is closed so I took out the dubious list of email addresses.
I'll put in a list of people when the beta comes back or the game comes out, whichever comes first.

can you guys have a look at this replay?
Protoss V Terran, Metalopolis. I scout early that he's going for reapers, but too late to change my build (gateway at 13). Besides an earlier gateway, could I have responded any better to his initial reaper attack?
I recovered and pushed forward with my economy, then he nearly got me again with a small force of marauders, but i JUst managed to finish a sentry, forcefield my ramp and delay him long enough to get an immortal out.
Game went on a little longer, then I spotted a factory coming over with two dropships with my newest observer, got a bunch of stalkers and sentries there, nearly killed the factory, then he just left.
Can anyone tell me why you think he might have left? Or did he maybe disconnect?

scouted the dude out early, but he massed gates (I only built 2) and tried rushing zealots early on
he almost took out one of my gates because my unit production was a little behind, then he tried sending a warp prism into the back of my base but I drove off that attack with a mix of sentries, zealots, and stalkers
he also tried going DTs, but he was an idiot with his micro and I just moved the units he was attacking toward a cannon and then raped them, also got some observers up just after
he kept me pretty bottled in for the first 10 minutes or so and I wasn't able to expand, but he decided to build a second expansion at the high yield right next to me (he never expanded to the high yield down by him for some reason) which I found just as it finished warping in and killed it
he kept pushing with a mix of zealots and stalkers and just going for numbers to beat me, but I kept building zealots, stalkers, and sentries and then got some immortals out as well and then started building a small number of colossi
started holding him off easier and finally got an expansion up, and he just kept doing the same thing, building a bunch of zealots and stalkers (though later he was building mainly stalkers) while I then built some stargates and got some voids out and then some carriers
even though he kept attacking, he kept losing so many units to my mixed force of stalkers, zealots, immortals, colossi, rays, and carriers that I eventually started winning the war of attrition and was able to build 3 more expansions (including the high yield) because he was so focused on my main base and he never even noticed the other expansions
built a mothership and finally went to his base with about 5 carriers, 4 voids, mothership, 2 colossi, a few immortals, and some stalkers and zealots and just fucking raped him for not mixing up his forces more
Hey, yeah. You.
Reading about Starcraft is like reading about chess because people come up with openings and follow those openings in their games depending on the situation. There is a pretty clear distinction of phases of the game - opening, push, endgame - with transitions between them, much like chess. People look at replays to determine the exact moment when position and control over the battlefield was lost and how it affected the outcome.
In one match I was watching, the commentators mention a sacrifice of material to slow the progression of the opponent and emphasize the importance of maintaining control of the center of the map. These are things you hear in chess too.
Stop projecting things onto what I say.
I always go 10 gate vs terran because the loss if he doesn't go reapers at all is less than if he goes normal reapers vs a 13 gate in my opinion and far less than if he goes the super fast reaper build
I can't check out the replay atm but I might later!
add me pleaaase
but I'm not sure if it still means I have to find a key, or if I can play.
if you can download it from your battle.net page, you are good to go
time to go get my ass kicked

It's never seemed that odd to me, but I grew up taking turns playing / watching plenty of games with friends, especially single player games when we'd rent something together. Seems like a fairly natural transition with the proliferation of competitive online games.
it starts like this, all innocently
three months from now no one in your family knows where you are until they catch a glimpse of you in a crowd in south korea, screaming your heart out for the top player of the moment
e-sports: not even once
*2 weeks later is adjusting sleep schedule to watch day9*
I'm surprised at how well it has worked.
I want to learn what all the buttons do
Just go to multiplayer and hit create game on the bottom right and you can add in a comp to play against there.
that helps
I don't mind embarrassing myself in front of non-sentient technology
I didn't realize there was an option for that, I've barely poked around
The only real nagging issue I saw was how long you kept your probes from mining after you got that stalker out and had it under control.
Also how long you had that second assimilator up with no probes mining on it, despite having units delayed because of little gas.
It looks like he either got dropped or just had something else come up and had to go, it's not like having his drop spoiled hurt him at all, he didn't lose any of it. He might have just been hoping that would end it fast enough he didn't have to eat a loss for whatever came up.
Seriously, the only AI they put in for the beta does basically nothing, you have all the time in the world to sit around looking at hotkeys, tech trees, abilities and such. There's no pressure at all from them.
or do they send you an email? I'm guessing I won't get one b/c I got it on a friend code.
if that's the case, does anyone have a spare? haha
I bet this won't even run on my computer.

Fortunately, well-placed siege tanks destroy such squishy masses.
I'm actually more surprised how infrequently I see them use those medivacs for anything but healing.
