Writing like left-hander with my right hand. What's up with that?

So, I've always been curious about this. When I write with my right hand, I write like a left hander. My right hand "crabs" over and I start my letters and numbers from opposite point of where a right hander would. "2"s from the bottom, "J"s from the top, etc. People who notice this get a little weirded out and I've only met two other people in my 33 years that have this same habit.
Is there a technical term for this? I certainly wasn't taught to write this way, it just comes naturally.

I don't know if there's a term, however looking for one did teach me the term "ambisinister", which is a pretty damn cool word.
I've seen maybe two people write the way you describe ever, though my husband is left-handed and writes (to a lesser degree) the way you describe in reverse - with his left hand.
I'm sure there's a word for it out there; from the looks of things there are people out there who devote their lives and research to handedness.

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
Maybe that's not one of the weird letters. I have no idea how normal people right, but most everyone flips their shit when they see me with a pencil. I guess I start a vast majority of letters and numbers from the "wrong" end.
1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, all get started from the bottom. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 from the top.
I do this too and people always comment on it. I now can tell them with a scowl that I am ambisinister!
I have always wondered if I was supposed to be a lefty and was just taught to write/favor my right hand...
Are you clumsy with both hands? I'm good with my right and poor with my left.

Er, ambisinister means 'awkward with BOTH hands'. It's a cool word, but I'm not sure you want to run around calling yourself that.

A, M, and N are the only letters I start from the bottom (j and i of course get dotted after the letter is made) and none of my numbers start from the bottom.
Because that's really weird. Why doesn't your hand follow a pattern? A 1 and an l are the same thing; which way does your l go?

My "i"s start from the bottom. My "I"s start from the top (beginning at the upper left of the letter).

I'm pretty sure you're just weird :P I'm a lefty and I start all my letters from the top (or middle, like d). starting from the bottom is wrong and broken.
But not really. Look, as long as your writing is legible and the act doesn't make your hand or your brain hurt, it doesn't matter how you do it. Don't stress.
Improv, same probably goes for you, provided diagonal means / and not \. \ is considered hard to read; when I was taught cursive we were given a page with ///// lines on it. It went behind the page we were writing on, and we were supposed use it to to line up our letters. I don't know how well it worked though, my letters veer between / and | depending on hand position and mood.
For myself, and other left handers I know, the only reason we change the position of our hands when we write is to avoid smudging, or because you're used to avoiding smudging. It can also be a pain when I have a notebook that has thick binding rings, which means that every other page I write I have to hold my hand up while my fingers cramp.
Don't know anyone who starts their letters differently; we all went to the same schools as right handers, and we all learned how to form letters at the same time and in the same way. As others have said, the exact angle you're writing the letters on can change depending on how you're holding your writing tool and the surface you're writing on. Actually, when I was taking calligraphy lessons way back I was told that, especially for lefties, it can be helpful to prop the writing surface up with a book or something, so that it's at an angle that makes it easier to reach without mangling hour hand. You could try that if it's a problem for you.

I don't remember saying that it was stressing me out. I'm just curious about it is all.
Take up drafting, we actually learned how to write like this in high school in a drafting class because you don't ever want to "rub" things you've already written. It may not be the exact same, but it was similar.

That's funny. My dad was a draftsmen. I'm getting a double BA in Applied Linguistics and French along with my TESL.
I distinctly remember my kindergarten teacher trying to get us all to write our letters from the top. I think it's technically the "proper" way, but I don't think it's emphasized much, and I'm not sure it's really indicative of anything besides writin' your letters how you want.
I start almost everything from the bottom, too. Am a righty, very much so.
I'm right handed but evidently I write like a left handed person too, or at least that's what people always tell me. I've always been like this and I'm always smudging my papers. My mom is left handed but only to write, she does pretty much everything else with her right hand. But people also tell me I form my letters weird. I do start a lot of my letters from the bottom or form them opposite from the way most people do (I start e's on the outside and I make o's by going counterclockwise).

I've also seen quite a few left-handers who write "normally", myself one of them. To avoid smudging I just turn the page 45 degrees.
Probably. I also keep my wallet in my back left pocket. Maybe I'm an undercover lefty.

I guess I can confess my weird writing style... its permanent italics. I can't write with vertical lines, everything is on the diagonal.
From the bottom. My uppercase L is from the top though.
It's not so much as that as the reversed writing style.
I write everything beginning from the top-left, unless it's an "S" or a "5" or something, then it's the top right where the character starts.
How am I supposed to be writing, as a left-handed person?

This pretty much sums up me as well. Except I'm not sure if I'm really ambidextrous.
I haven't heard on anyone writing letters and number bottom first before. o_O

my right is stronger, more dexterous, and favoured in every other situation.
