So I've been shaking a lot lately...

It's probably nothing, but I just want confirmation.

I've always been the kind of guy that bounces his leg, no matter what the situation. Lately (last six months) I've been noticing that I seem to be shaking involuntarily. At a recent FIFA tournament with my friends, I was so into the game that both my legs were moving rapid fire (thats fine and normal) but apparently my hand was jerking pretty bad too (something that I was unaware of). I caught a friend laughing at the "jerking off" hand motions I was making, which surprised me because I had no idea that I was making them. Similarly, I got into a very big argument with someone, and I was shaking very bad. I couldn't keep my arms from moving. I've also noticed that I can't hold my hands steady. When I hold them out, or when I'm in doing something that requires precision, such as building or gluing something together, oftentimes I shake to the point that I have to temporarily relinquish my role to someone else.

Could this just be a product of high stress? I have been very stressed lately. Or should I call House?

Thanks.

I hate you and you hate me.

Get thee to a physician. If you aren't conscious of the movements then it could be serious. I'm not a doctor but stress related tics aren't something that get as bad as what you're describing.

Have you been eating okay? Do you drink fucktons of Coke?

While you eat, let's have a conversation about the nature of consent.

It could be a lot of things, but you're going to need a doctor to figure them out.

Question: Do you have a crazy high metabolism and have trouble putting on weight?

This sounds an awful lot like what happens to me when I'm really stressed and about to have a panic attack. Ever had those? That's just my anecdotal experience, and I Am Not A Doctor.

Unless you were drinking a lot of caffeine prior to the shaking, you should see a doctor. Even if other people can experience the same symptoms due to panic attacks or stress, it doesn't mean that it's being caused by that in you.

Yes, me, and OP applies as well. Any experience there?

Well, not professional diagnosis, the OP should still get checked out (you know, in case of Parkinsons) but it could be the same disorder my doctor thought I had for a bit.

Basically take ADD, ADHD, the compulsion to keep moving and high metabolism and roll them into one.

It's technically all four together under one term though, not a disease of it's own type, just...like..."Buy the bundle and save $10!" kind of deal.

What's your blood pressure like? Tremors and other shaking like that can be a symptom of high blood pressure, and would explain why it seems to get worse when you're excited.

Well in things like parkinsons, you'll have episodes where you actually can't stop part of yourself from shaking, even if you know it is shaking. If you start to jiggle unconciously, and stop as soon as someone mentions that you're a leg jiggler - then its probably nerves.

Hit up the doctors office if you can - they'll check for blood pressure and diabetes.

Go to the doctor. It could be a sign of anything from stress, to high blood pressure, to diabeetus, to Parkinsons, in order of likelyhood. Either way, you don't wanna screw with it. Suggest you lay off caffeine and alcohol in the interim, as it never makes it better.
