Anyone see this? Now there's a simple installer that you can download to run either Ubuntu, Kubuntu, or Xubuntu on your PC without burning any discs or crazy nonsense. No partitioning either! Keep your Windows OS. Just download and install. I'm going to give it a try now.
FYI - this is not a final version. Working prototype!
Ooh. So it does everything (repartitioning, etc) through Windows? Not bad. Still, I find the current install CD is a bit more effective with people, since it works as a live CD first, so people can try it before installing it.
You might want to mention that this is mainly for creating a Linux install while still keeping your Windows OS. A Live CD without the CD part, I guess.
Should be a lot faster than running off optical, though. And the auto-download is pretty cool.
I really don't see it as any kind of a permanent solution, though. Partitioning and installing another OS for dual booting seems daunting at first, but if you get some good instructions and take your time, it's not as hard as it seems.
So this is just essentially running Linux in a Virtual Machine? Because that's the only way I can see to actually "run Linux" without "all that crazy partitioning." or "dual booting".

well guys, the torrent for the downloader sucks right now. It'll be a couple hours. hmm. I'll keep it running.
I'm pretty busy at the moment, so maybe it'll have to wait until tomorrow to test....
