Cyberspace. A consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation, by children being taught mathematical concepts... A graphic representation of data abstracted from banks of every computer in the human system. Unthinkable complexity. Lines of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind, clusters and constellations of data. Like city lights, receding.
Welcome to
Dystopia: A Cyberpunk Mod of HL2.
Cyberpunk sets in a high tech world where everything is connected to computer networks. And two oppositions: Punks and Corps, must fight through both the physical world and the cyberspace.
Punks
Punks are expendable tools commonly hired to battle against mega corporations. In most cases, they are required to hack and infiltrate certain mega corp's facility and commit sabotage like destroying a communication tower, launching a corporate missile, or stealing an important data file.
Corps
Corps consist of mercenaries hired by these mega corporations to protect and secure their interests. These massive monopolistic corporations are so powerful and wealthy that they are above the laws and possess heavily-armed security forces to battle against any intruders.
Gameplay
Dystopia is an FPS game. Each team has three different classes: light, medium, and heavy. Each class has three type of weapons to choose from. Different classes have different roles in the operation, and they must work as a team to accomplish their objectives which are inter-linked between the physical world and the cyberspace. There are currently three official maps and a couple of community created maps. In game, players can also have cybernetic implants which will aide them in combat.
Cyberspace
Cyberspace is a special place. Players can only access cyberspace only when they have a Cyberdeck implant and is jacked in to a terminal. The laws of physics do not apply here in cyberspace. In here, players can hack the systems to disable the enemy turrents, open doors, or capture spawn points.
The game can be intimidating to new players and it has a fairly steep learning curve. For further information you can go to the
official website. There is a nifty and helpful player guide there.
Also Version 1 is soon to be released. There will be many improvements to the game including:
- Improved cyberspace gameplay
- 3 new weapons
- 4 new implants; wired reflexes, IFF info, cold suit, advanced cyberdeck
- New Punk Heavy model
- Remodelled grenade launcher and ion cannon
- Reworked animations for many weapons
- Revamped HUD
- New radar system, including zoomable overview map
- In game global stats, rankings and awards

As in, if you didn't read the 30 page manual and decide to see what the game is like, expect to be yelled at in game for the next five minutes before you turn it off. It wouldn't be bad with a bunch of friends or people you know to be generally friendly, but this is probably the worst pub game I have played.
also it is awesomely cool and fun as hell
I never asked for this!
(dystopia is hands-down the coolest Source mod evar. HACK THE PLANET)
I know I say this every time a dystopia thread pops up, but play this shit. You can see sound.
Steam :?:
why? just get it off steam.

Xbox360 Gamertag: Emuchop
I did that just a few weeks ago. So easy. Reformatted and redownloaded hl2 over steam. Took like 3 hours tops. Never had a single problem.

I never asked for this!
I am one of those supporters.
I can truly say... wow. Quite awesome
Lawl, I jumped in fast without the manual and it was relatively easy to get the gist of it all.
Yeah its not a really complicated game. Anyone can run around and do somewhat decently.
I never asked for this!
Just run around and shoot people with the rest of your team. Within a round or two you should easily figure out what objectives they are fighting towards, and will learn WHY they are screaming at the deckers when a particular door is/isn't open etc.
Once you know what the deckers are doing to real world objectives, figuring out what decking is about is cake.
Also, it rocks pretty hard. Cant wait for the full version.
A game with all PAers would be totally awesome.
It's calling you.
Easiest way to learn about decking is to sit by an experienced decker and just watch what he's doing on his little monitor.
THere were others but they had bad ping or noone played 'em.
Hopefully it goes way up when the full version is released.
To learn to deck, defend a smart decker, watch his screen.
or a light stealth boltgunner when I'm feeling crazy.
Nothing like going Garrett into the enemy base then opening up with a shotgun into their pretty, oh-so-beautifully unguarded backs then fading into the darkness again for my next kill. I dystopia so much.
Old PA forum lookalike style for the new forums | My ko-fi donation thing.
The battles with enemy deckers in cyberspace were truly glorious. all running up and slapping encryptions on the places you had just hacked, kicking the enemy decker out of cyberspace, getting kicked out yourself due to lack of power, and coming back in just in time to see the same enemy decker trying to break your encryption. Then kicking him out with a few well placed.. cyber-bullet things as his own bullet things are whizzing past you.
Oh, good times.
[edit] Did I mention the Fatman Fist? Oooh boy that was a fun weapon
Also, I love you all too.
Except fuzzy.
He's a fuck.
So far, I haven't been wrong.
o_O
Nope.
I'm on the recieving end of Spider nades more than I throw 'em. But damn do they work. I forgot if you can blow them up while they're scuttling, but I hardly ever am able to dodge one :?
...wait shit.
