The Curious Urge to Milk Women, Seduce Crops, and Plant Farm Animals
The combat's supposedly much revamped in this one, videos show it looking very Kingdom Hearts/DMC/whatever (I'm doing this wrong).
The combat is about my only complaint from the Rune Factory series, aside from Runies in the Wii game (otherwise I loved the shit out of it).
It wasn't the combat in and of itself, it was that just to swing your weapon it sucked both stamina and health that was also used for farming. Logically, this makes sense, I suppose. Gameplay-wise, either farming always got in the way of dungeon delving, or vice versa. At least in my experience.

I was ok with that. You fix that by having your monsters do the farming anyway; that's the whole reason they're there.

Can anyone tell me how Tale of Two Towns is compared to previous Harvest Moons? I think I want to buy it for the 3DS later this year, and I haven't played a Harvest Moon since the PS1 one.
I just need to know if it will be worth it or if it has as much value as some of the previous games.

Really? Whelp, Gamestop has a cute Llama plush as a preorder of the 3DS game...so it looks like I'll be getting me it, as I have a huge urge to play a HM game.

For whatever reason I could never trust monsters to farm for me. Never had the patience to let them get 'better' as they went, I was always farming waaaay too high a volume by the time I got monster farmers.

Geez, sorry....'alpaca.' Either way it's super cute, and the game looks fun, and I figure since I haven't played a Harvest Moon in years, I should be able to jump in all fresh and unspoilt by years of Harvest Moon games.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with their happiness. My Sky Fish still can't water for shit, but it is also at level 1 FP. On the opposite end, my Chitter is at level 3 FP and can get all my grass in less than a hour. Granted, there isn't much of it but fuck if my Sky Fish can't even water like 3 plots of fodder.
You have to get them high in FP before they really start to a lot of good work. It's pretty easy though. Even just feeding them everyday should get them to 10 in a month or two.
Good news everyone!
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny comes out tomorrow (though I have heard of it being on the shelves today).
Anyone have any impressions?

Yeah. I guess I am just hoping for an awesome Rune Factory game with purdy grafix, sans Runeys.
Only thing I've heard is that there are no seeds or watering now, your character just magically plants seeds in special places and makes monsters tend them for you. What the deuce. This info I got from a forum post UncleSporky linked me to, so it could be nothing.
Still waiting on impressions!
Picked up the game this evening and played it for about an hour. That was only long enough to play through the first day, which is just tutorial stuff and meeting people. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out because on the island you start on there's nowhere to plant stuff and no dungeons. I'm going into this blind but I really hope it turns out good.
This game is a little weird so far. I've only got a couple hours on it at this point, but I'm starting to feel worried about it. At this point there's not really anything to do. There's ocean exploring, but that hasn't lead anywhere except fainting and waking up with a cold. There's a tiny island with some wood you can collect and some wimpy monsters to fight. I need some kind of guidance and the game isn't giving me any. I want to make money to upgrade my house of course, and I want to find a fishing pole, and give gifts to girls and stuff but the first week of gameplay doesn't even hint that those are things you should be doing.
Maybe I just need to wait for plot events to start happening? Because this empty free time is disappointing.
Found an easy way to make a little money at the start with cooking.
Buy milk from the inn, cook it into hot milk with the pot in the kitchen, and sell the hot milk to the general store across the street. Haggle until you get a better price. If you fail at haggling back out and try again. The fried squid food at the inn gives enough RP to make 6 or sometimes 7 hot milks.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
The frame rate seemed good, but that makes me wonder if it was really bad on the DS version?
anyways, I saw it for cheap and wondered if it would even be worth it.
I violently approve.
Wonder if it's any good.

Of course, this means I have to import, again.

Amazon is still saying tomorrow.
Bloody fliberty giblets. I was seriously considering this game, but already made a Dark Souls commitment. Damn, damn, damn, damn.
...sigh. I'll most likely get it later. But with a baby on the way, impulse buys are a thing of the past.

Really light so far on the farming, but it does have some of that Rune Factory twisted humor.
Also Runeys???? ARE IN THE GAME! RUN FOR COVER!
