Now on to your latest ramblings. The 5 days in a row thing is patently wrong. For starters, Vaughn's only on the islands 2 days a week, so that would make it impossible to get his stone. It also literally takes about 3 minutes to test this and, there we go. You're confirmed wrong. Second, any gift that's worth 300 points gives a musical note, Captain Crazy. That's the first level above the null reaction. Takes what, 15 seconds to test?
It's 5 days in a row that they're available. And some sites say "no that's not true" some say "yes it is". Mine reset for one villager and not for another so I'm not taking any chances.
Musical note gifts are, as a rule, difficult to get. Thus the musical note.
Also, we're done talking. You're a massively unpleasant person and completely immature about this. I get that you didn;t find this system annoying at all and it was really easy for you. Congrats. So drop it.
Maybe now you've learned to stop making random shit up, but since you still haven't bothered to even check what the musical note gifts are for the game, I doubt that.
Here you go, snuggles. http://faqs.ign.com/articles/104/1044014p1.html
Maybe one day, you'll bother to read it and some education will somehow find a way into your head.
It was a pleasure continuously proving you wrong! Let's do it again sometime!
Whatever, junior. IGN has always been proven correct no matter what, of course, and you have yet to prove anything.
RF3: HELL YES. Man, that looks hilarious. Whippin' taters!
I feel dirty playing Grand Bazaar... I mean, it's setup makes it just too easy once you get the right shit... I'm used finding annoying things to make the "story" progress (glares at Shine Sprites).

Dude. What the fuck? There is literally a list of universally agreed upon musical note gifts that are identical across every single site on the internet. Would you like a copy of all of them? It boggles my mind that you are arguing that everybody on the internet is wrong about this and you are right.

What the hell are you even talking about? Yes, musical note gifts. Yes, most are pretty dang hard to get.
Anyway, has anyone heard of any pre-order plushie for RF3? I know the Japanese publisher was toying with a golden wooley but I never heard whether it came out or not.

Thanks, but I have this list already, printed up and everything, always in my DS case.
Not this exact list but this list all the same. Mine doesn't have Lily on it. Fuck that greedy bitch. And I use Red Herbs for the Witch, always have since I tried to marry her in DS. Still haven't managed to do it but I'm 5 years working on it. God forbid I lose that cartridge.
It makes sense. It was a bit stupid to get full RP from a few potatoes halfway through a dungeon.
Well, you can STILL get full RPs from a few potatoes. Just once tho. It kind of artificially lengthens the game, I think.
I think I remember reading about how in RF3, you get Runeys from harvesting crops. So that little ball might have been a Runey instead of a rune orb.
That's correct. RF3 in general apparently has a huge shift back towards farming, which is why I'm looking forward to it a little bit. HOWEVER, soil fertility is sticking around. You either have to dump fertilizer all over the place, or have a huge crop rotation scheme going where you plant on any given square only once or twice a season. Largescale farming is all but impossible without being a fertilizer addict.
The eternal struggle of modern HM games has always been that of ease of play versus complexity.
Too easy and people take it for granted. RF 1 just makes everything too easy. Courtship takes almost no time, nor does animal husbandry and making money is particularly easy. There are few things to worry about outside of dungeon completion and there is very little reason to make nice with the non wooable townsfolk. Most people go into that game with every major event done before waiting another season for the last few mines to open up.
On the other hand you can go too far and make it too complex. IoH/SI/and HM DS all suffer from this. Just too much crap to worry about. Especially the Island games. Gotta worry about keeping people happy or they leave, gotta worry about the rain, about the sun, about everything. Upgrading tools is needlessly complex in those titles.
Games closer to the balance I like are RF2 and MM. Magical Melody in particular is grand. Sure, it has people leaving because you don't pay enough attention but that's about it. Could use more festivals and more dialogue, but otherwise a near perfect experience. Lots of freedom, fun land ownership mechanics, decent minigames (which are a poor substitute for real festivals but whatever) lots of people, mini achievement like goals.
Seems like that'd make RF1 the perfect gateway game, then.
Also, am I the only person who outright prefers the series on a handheld? It just seems to fit better.

I much prefer massively complex HMs, except for the friendship crap. I hate making friends and having to KEEP making friends or they get pissed.

The only reason I don't like the handhelds is the fact that I have to hold it for so long when I play. With a console, I can just sit back and play on the couch, but with handhelds, it's so hard to get comfortable and play that thing.
I prefer RF to regular HM.
It's not that I dislike the farming side- far from it- but I like to have the combat there as something to do whenever I need a break from tilling and watering, and it gives you more of a sense of game progression.
I wouldn't skip RF1 if you care about catching references/recurring characters in the sequals.
It's weird that I actually enjoy the farming in RF more than I enjoy the farming in HM (well, excluding HMDS/Cute but every other HM on the DS isn't all that fun for me). My absolute favourite is Back to Nature, I was devastated when my save file on the PSP port got corrupted.

DONE. Fuck an A.

I'm just looking forward to hauling the wives into the dungeons. EARN MY RING WITH BLOOOOOOOOOOD
Whoop a doop! What's going on at 1:35? Do you have to harvest the crops now to get the rune point to show? That seems kind of dumb.

Instead of being annoying and causing people to stop playing they give permanent stat bonuses to the character!

It wouldn't have been so bad if the animation for using the Harvester hadn't been so damn long. And if looking up had attracted the Runeys faster.

And who can I marry?
These are important.
A variety of the same 8 year olds that show up in all the games.

Am I missing out?
Yup. Skip RF1 but RF2, 3 and Rune Factory Frontier on the Wii are damn fun. RFF is the best looking Wii game I own.
I much prefer massively complex HMs, except for the friendship crap. I hate making friends and having to KEEP making friends or they get pissed.
But HMDS/DS Cute is the best of the series, IMO.

Are there any pre-order bonuses anywhere?
Nope.
