i don't know why everyone loves ground control though, it's a shitty arcade and a shitty bar and nothing is gained by combining the two

Is Halifax considered cool now? It seems like everyone I know is up and moving there. Like the Seattle of the East Coast.

Yeah seriously, how is it a shitty arcade? Sorry there's no Rush 2041 but it's all great stuff and a lot of them are social games that get strangers playing together while they're drinking. Plus, it's a dive bar, which is the best kind of bar.

Hey Orikaeshigitae, I'm the manager of Ground Kontrol. (FYI: While I'm a regular PAX-er, I don't post here often, so I don't know a lot of the local users.)

Just wondering if you had a particular bad/frustrating experience with Ground Kontrol or if it just doesn't appeal to you. Any feedback is appreciated, and you can PM me here or email art@groundkontrol.com!

Not trying to change your opinions, but I'm hoping I can address some of your issues so you can have a better time should you give it another shot!

    Thanks,

    Art

it's mainly just that ground kontrol is not my kind of bar. there's no liquor, which puts my girlfriend out of luck (since she has a gluten allergy and can't drink beer,) nothing on tap, and a limited selection of canned beers. the bar really seemed like an afterthought compared to how extensive the arcade is. without libations, all we did was play a couple games, sit and chat with our friends, and leave after about an hour.

it's honestly a neat place in concept, but there was really nothing there to keep me there or get me to want to come back. we were looking for somewhere to hang out and get a nice buzz on, and instead got an arcade with a novelty bar.

Maybe another visit might change my mind. I don't know.

suggestions - more seating, more liquor, at least some kind of draught

I don't think you can call yourself a bar without liquor or stuff on tap.

It's like you're playing video games in someone's garage and they've got a beer fridge that they're using for the bar.

    "What can I get you?"
    "Uh, how about an IPA?"
    "Sure."

And then they throw you a Natty Ice.

When I was in Portland I gave a bum outside the Border's that's downtown, across from the park, a twenty by mistake instead of a 5 that I meant to give him. I wanted to go back and ask for it back, but that would have been a faux pas.

Also, walking back to our room we were staying at PSU, a kid who could only have been 15 offered to sell me 'shrooms.
