so as i'm sure many people do i often spend some time gazing up at the stars above to see if i can spot anything fun. Satellites and the like...

Well tonight I spotted something that kinda has me baffled..

In the northern sky at 230am I saw a super bright object moving at a very steady pace, about 3-5 seconds after I noticed it it dimmed considerably until it finally faded out towards the horizon... the velocity of it never changed and it didn't deviate from its course, nor did it flash or scintillate. so, anyone have any ideas?

I'd guess a low orbit satellite. I'm still waiting to see an unknown object like that change direction.

this wont help with the man (or, umm, alien) made objects, but the google sky app for android devices is amazing for identifying stars and planets. Just point your phone at it and you get a name.
