Thunderbolts #144 was good, the team motivation works, Walker's art is nice but Songbird looks really dumb.
Man-Thing is the team's transport, Pym set him up to teleport through his time nexus (and then he hit him)

Parker gets some slack because he writes and love continuity and history, but even here I wonder if Zemo: Born Better is just going to be ignored. He's all the way back in his campy evil duds and not even his Guardian Protocols outfit.

And finally, to tie-in with the GL #54 Kitty pages from the BD thread:
I didn't know Lobo had a dog, that is so streets ahead.

Zod threw a kryptonite knife at Conner and Krypto got in front of him and took the knife, but Superman told Conner to get him into the atmosphere to let the sun heal him. He wasn't seen or talked about in the aftermath of the war, so he basically got USAgent treatment.
It would have been worse than what Robinson did in Cry For Justice.
I always come in to see the books I'm missing but interested in (Doomwar, Thunderbolts, Thanos), and end up spoiling the ones I am looking forward to most (GL, War of Supermen).
I wish I could get my books sooner than Saturday. Grr, hate living in the boonies.
Edit: Robinson's Superman 700 epilogue will probably deal with that.

The first part of Power Girl was literally a scene from softcore lesbian porn.

Curse you, DW! I was almost done scanning those!
But yeah, the beginning of that issue was...interesting. I like to imagine that Palmiotti, Gray and Connor were in a brainstorming session trying to figure out what to do for their final issue.
Inspiration strikes them all at the same time. They look at each other--gleams of brilliance in their eyes--and yell, "TITTIES!" in unison.
EDIT: Also, the fact that their swimsuits are basically high-tech mood rings cracks me up.
you skipped the page where they eat each other out for 5 hours
I didn't. Geebs must have removed it.

So is Power Girl still supposed to be empowering women or do they just say that because a woman is drawing her with the belief no woman would draw cheesecake?

Secret Avengers was good, for the most part.
It jumps straight into the story, just two pages max combined of "recruitment" scenes. War Machine seems to be the one who will keep Steve in check.
Brubaker makes Nova less than his awesome cosmic self and Worldmind reads like a totally different person, but the "earth" stuff is where it does its best.
Also
Ares
will be back by arc's end it looks like
edit: If anyone got Doomwar #4 please spill the beans because even just words about the comic will be better than anything this week.
I havn't read Thunderbolts yet, but both Return of Bruce Wayne and Amazing Spider-man were great. But Amazing Spider-man was mostly set up and exposition with little forward movement, ROBW however managed to do BOTH, and well.

I'm curious: why are people getting the impression that
Ares
will be revived soon? Just because in two panels there was a picture on the wall in the background of
a burly guy holding an Ares-like axe
?
Also, Doomwar wins my coveted Best Use of Deadpool In About Two Years Not That That's Saying Much award.
On the subject of Deadpool, I was actually kind of annoyed by Merc With a Mouth. I feel like this storyline has dragged on long enough. If I remember correctly, the arc was supposed to be 6 issues when it started coming out; I would have been OK if it ended there and moved on to the next thing. I kind of expected Merc With a Mouth to just be a series of short, self-contained stories about Deadpool (don't ask me why), so I'm displeased that reality doesn't match up with my fantasy.

Not only was it an Ares looking guy holding an axe in the temple, but also that it is on Mars, which was the Roman name for Ares. It would also tie into the current cosmic stuff with gods and avatars that Ares would be reborn on "his" planet

Yeah, I figured it being on Mars was part of it. I dunno, I guess it just seems a bit too tenuous to me to really say "Oh, Ares's on his way back". Not that I'd mind, understand; I want more Ares in my Marvel.
I am (shamefully) not up on my cosmic current events. What are you referring to when you say "It would also tie into the current cosmic stuff with gods and avatars that Ares would be reborn on "his" planet"?
This week's Wonder Woman was the official end of the Gail Simone run. Next issue is #600 which features a bunch of writers and stuff, and then we move on to JMS.
But I have been enjoying this arc of WW with its space Amazons, and the end was pretty good. As with last month's issue, where my favorite moment was when Achilles rode in on his two-trunked elephant and stabbed a giant mechanical snake in the head. This week, my favorite moment was when Hypolyta leads a charge of Amazons and Olympians in and a big battle ensues.
Oh, and then there's the part where Steve Trevor was flying an invisible plane and was palling around with Achilles. It was good stuff.

In the cosmic titles:
There is a rip in the universe that opened up into another universe where there is no death, and everything has been corrupted by a C'thullu type thing.
The "lord" of this universe is actually that version of Captain Marvel, who is the avatar of life there.
He wants to kill our Universe's avatar of Death, Thanos, who just came back to life by Adam Magus and the Universal Church of Truth.
On top of this Black Bolt sacrificed himself to try and close this rip in reality, but over in Fantastic Four there is a feeling that Black Bolt will return as a god
So you have all these interesting cosmic things going on that could be lightly touched on with Secret Avengers, especially if Nova is on the team
That sounds really awesome. I keep reading about how amazing the cosmic Marvel stuff is, but I keep being intimidated by the amount of it. Guess I'll ask over in the questions thread about the reading order for it all.
