This event has been planned for 15 JANUARY to 23 JANUARY 2011.
This timeframe suits the most number of people, accommodates holidays on both sides of the globe, and also gives a summer option for winter-fearing northern-hemispherics. This date is subject to change depending on possible conflicts with the 26 January Australia Day holiday. ALL ATTENDEES HAVE THE OPTION OF ARRIVING AND DEPARTING ON ANY DAYS WITHIN THIS TIMEFRAME, so there is no need to commit yourself to all 9 days if you cannot do so!
- LOCATION -
The votes are in and our destination will be BYRON BAY in NSW. Accessible from Queensland, Byron Bay marks the easternmost point of Australia and features some absolutely gorgeous beaches! You can fly into Brisbane or Gold Coast and there are heaps of buses and trains that will get you out to Byron Bay. Please contact #pipe via PM or in the thread if you need more information.
- TRANSPORTATION -
We recommend the idea of groups of out-of-towners split car rental cost and carpool to the final destination. For those driving from Brisbane or Gold Coast, we would suggest they time their departure alongside the possibility of picking some out-of-towners up at the airport on their way. Hashpipe has provided a good summary of transportation options to Byron Bay here.
- ACCOMMODATION -
Accommodation within our target range of $250 to $450 per person for the whole trip has been found. More details about money transfer and deposit contributions will be made directly via PM.
- DURATION -
People are welcome to come and go whenever they want during AusPAX, which also means you don't HAVE to arrive on the 15th and you are welcome to leave prior to the 23rd. You will only pay for the nights you're staying. Please note that we will only book the chalet up to check-out on the 23rd, which means we must all be gone before check-out time on the 23rd. Check-out times typically vary depending on the accommodation we get but basically, don't assume you can stay the night at the house on the night of the 23rd.

As he's been promising and hinting at for about six months now, everyone's favourite banana is being flown to Melbourne for business this month for a night or two and he wants to hang out with YOU.
My boss has assured me the trip will be this month and today he said "probably next week" (15th-19th). I almost certainly won't know exact nights and details until a day or two before, but if you'll be in Melbourne and free to go out for a drink and some food that night then I'd love to hang out with some forumers.
I will be staying in a fancy hotel in St Kilda but I'm happy to travel anywhere by tram. I've been told that I'm on the clock from 9-5 (excepting extenuating circumstances) but free to do whatever after that.

Over the road from the Northern, there is a little corner bakery that is open from 5am until 4 am. It is open to the public 23 hours a day.
Anyway, my routine everytime we played at the northern, after the show I would pack up my gear, walk over to the bakery and buy a little individual raspberry pie, then wander back to the pub, pie in hand, walk up to the bar and order a pint of cold milk with ice.
I'd sit at the bar, drinking cold milk and eating a raspberry pie while hundreds of idiots (including my band mates) got drunk and threw things.
I was the coolest cat.
