Making a makeshift, emergency !!! shot glass.

My friend from Finland brought me some Finnish liquor and asked me to try it before I meet her tonight. I can't find any of my shot glasses though (I don't even know if I've ever HAD a shot in my home). About how many ounces is a shot? Or how much should I fill a standard-sized styrofoam cup with the liquor to do a proper shot?

    Take a gulp? A shot usually approximates to one standard gulp.

    One ounce. That's two tablespoons. Although at a bar I think you're likely to get about 1.5 ounces if you order a shot.

    Also are you wanting to try it or just do a shot? If you actually want to taste it, take a sip neat and mull it over. Doing shots is for getting drunk ;P

    Exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you! I'll err on the side of 1 ounce (2 tbsp) since it is only 3:40 PM and I am going out soon.

    Also be prepared to be knocked out of your socks by Finnish liquor. While the potency is not ridiculous by hard alcohol standards, the taste is... well, Finnish.

    I figured that's what it was. The Salmiakki candy is okay, but the liquor tastes like salty balls

    Hahah. She sent me Salmiakki candies last year. Definitely a different taste.
