Small/Cheap Laptop

I recently found out that I will be taking a lovely 6 month vacation to the Middle Eastern country of Qatar (not really a vacay, military) I want to pick up a small cheap laptop to keep me entertained while I am there. Im looking for a laptop that is under $500-$600, preferably a screen that is 11-13 inches (but size really isnt an issue as long as it falls in the price range), and I want to be able to play some games on it (Im not an OMG graphics person, but I want to be able to play some of my simpler steam games, older rts games like c&c, wc3, maybe wow).
I know dick about computer specs, which is sad considering how I work in a pc support career, so all the processors and such is moonspeak to me. Ive considered neetbooks, but everyone Ive talked to said not to get one, especially because they probably couldnt handle any sort of game. So if anyone knows of any laptops that meet my requirements, please help me out!
