Simple request really. I sometimes read and enjoy blogs and am easing myself back into writing after nearly 20 years away from it. I find the more I write the easier I find it, and any writing (work, D&D campaigns, letters etc etc) that I do seems like rehabilitation.
So I'd like to blog something but have no idea about the websites and software and culture really. I sometimes read blogs of random types, occasionally have opinions on their design aesthetics, and that's about it.
What sites, software and cautions should I be aware of?
I've been trying to do the blogging thing for some time now. I've tried a couple different platforms, but wordpress is overall my favorite, although tumblr is pretty alright.
Wordpress has pretty much any feature you would need, you can create a whole website out of it pretty easily if you are so inclined.
Tumblr is nice because microblogging is kind of fun, but it doesn't have comments, meaning only people with a tumblr can comment at all on anything you write, so, this is probably not for you.
I also dislike writing posts in the webpage on wordpress, I have a PC, so I use Windows Live Writer (free from their website) to do my writing, and I really like it. I'm sure OSX has something similar but I have no idea.
BUT! Dispite having tried blogging, I'm still pretty new to it, so I can't offer much more advice, although I read through these at work and found some good information, so I'll pass it on to you
