Really, it did. I still suck at it, but I'm on my way to greatness, not to mention it's very funny (incase anyone doesnt know what I'm talking about, http://ps2.ign.com/articles/753/753015p1.html ) I don't care how gay you're all gonna think I am for liking this.

American Idol: because America needs to idolize people who can sang good instead of people who actually do something. :|

It's not called American Role Model.

But do not look at The Apprentice for any example of people that can do things, other than Trump and his direct subordinates. The contestants are worth little to nothing, and shame my television.

The competition itself notwithstanding, the creation and performance of music is hardly an occupation worthy of your disdain.

I'm a big Karaoke Revolution fan (I have them all; even the country one, which I'm a little ashamed to say), but I'm a little wary of this one. Isn't this the first installment that Harmonix didn't develop?

This is true only if the artist in question actually creates and performs their own music.

American Cover Artist doesn't really have the same ring to it, I guess.

Hmmm, I never really got the whole singer/songwriter fetish for rock&roll. I mean no one complains that the ochestra is doing a cover of Mozart.

Technically, it is. I mean "idol" and "role model" aren't direct synonyms, but people do try to emulate the people they idolize, to some degree.

    Tobasco is still dumby though.

I would much rather my television be about how much pig intestine we can eat like in fear factor. Or how well you can flip a coin like in deal or no deal.

There are FAR worse shows to find and far more useless skills being showcased on television than American Idol. At least they actually showcase skill. Their overly poppy albums put out after by the winners have yet to be to my taste, but there is a lot of good talent and a lot of good performances during the show. Too much filler of course, but aren't we supposed to be talking about a video game?

Is this out on the xbox as well? Is there a songlist someone could link? I am a fan of karaoke revolution party on the xbox. A large part of that is because you can get most of the songs made for all the ps2 versions without flipping discs (the download was pricey though).

I keep being tempted for some reason whenever I see the signstar packaging in a store. Maybe it's because the girl on the box is hot.

if something like this improved your singing then it must have been pretty bad before

personally I think vocal performance is the highest form of communication and a wonderful thing to practice... even if you DO suck at it or don't have a very good instrument

these games aren't all that bad... if you're somewhat tone deaf and rhythm challenged they can help you get a decent start!

I feel like one of those guys that go into the Guitar Hero threads who play actual guitar and don't understand the game.... eeek what have I become.

As I've said... singing is a noble and good practice but if you've watched any of American Idol the TV show you would know that there are some very sad distortions of reality in some folks. Mostly those who think they rock at Karaoke.

There was a time in my life (early college) where I wanted to be a music major. I LOVED singing. However... I soon realized the fact that just because I could sing better than most people didn't mean I was any good at all. So many people surrounding me had *actual* talent and I was beginning to hear that I just didn't have it.

One of those folks was Mandisa (gospel singer from last season). I was content playing my role in things though... being a bass in a group that stunned audiences and festivals but I soon realized that singing in groups was the only way I was going to ever sound good. No solos for me.

Anyway... my wife and I only usually watch the show for the insane people... for the laughs. But after seeing Mandisa in the audition last year I had to keep watching and rooting for her... it was surreal seeing someone you hung out with on a TV show like that.

I think I'd hate American Idol less if they actually had to write their own stuff.
That's one thing I like about Rockstar more (Other than the obviously better song selections). They actually do write a song at some point, and when it's all over, they're joining a band and writing original stuff. Sure, Supernova the band kind of sucks, but still.

Writing songs is a completely different skill

those folks on Rockstar can hardly be called 'songwriters'... collaborating on a song... sure

There aren't a whole lot of "London Philharmonic Orchestra fans", though
