RADlands - and THEN the eel man comes for a little one on one
Also regarding the meta-traits: making them into archetypes seems a lot more static, which is good, while a character's genre can still play a part in how you play them, and seems like a much better way to let them develop in a way you want
Lil Chuck has been pretty comedic lately, but for his loyalty mission I'm assuming it will be a much more dramatic role for him to evolve into
of course it's up to de?ad whether he still want's this to have any mechanical effect next game, but it wouldn't be very hard to say, giving a small hidden bonus to rolls depending on how well a character is fitting into the mood of the scene
It's basically this: If a character is an Action character, he is shit out of luck in a Drama scene. It is simply something he cannot really do. If a character is a brawler-type Tough, he can shift to drama easily - he's still the stoic, hard-to-take-down guy. He's not being punished for not being the right character for a Drama scene, something he can't really control.
As for the second bit, that's already entirely planned, and will be explicit - you will get bonus Special for playing to the scene.
As I was telling Squall earlier in IM, you will have the chance to use Special (whose name may be changed. It just represents Narrative Command) to jump Meta-traits at an appropriate moment - when the The Mentor of the group has a change of Heart and uses his incredible experience to endure in a fight, becoming The Tough.
Heh. Kind of. You will note the fact that the traits are, essentially, the Five Man Band, plus Mentor, and Mascot. Granted, TVTropes in no way invented that, but their classification of it is... useful, in this instance.
I think I get what your saying, but I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as the traits are relatively broad
I mean, psychers are probably the least diverse guys right now, but even they range from Makali to Kruppe
Just gotta pick the trait that fits the character, instead of building the character around the trait
The traits are broad, and, the point is, they apply to all genre's - a Hero is specialized in building Special, regardless of what type of Hero he is. A Tough is stoic. A Man-At-Arms/Wingman specializes in being the counterpart to the Hero. The Heart keeps the team together. The Brains is the skill-master. The Mentor empowers the group/the Hero. The Mascot... well, is a Mascot. They are not Genre-specific, and merely suggest what the character is.
Also, keep in mind that RADLands only has four Meta-Traits - this already has seven.

Glad to hear, the only thing I think could be a problem is Wingman needing a Hero to be the counterpart of, but that could just lead to more great situtions like with makali/cobalt or henry/kain (I am hoping for something great from Squbh)
he is sleepin' right now!
it's raining outside though, so I don't know how I'm gonna wear him out so he'll go back to sleep. it was easier when it was sunny outside and I just ran around the lawn with him.

[Update Tomorrow]
Still trying to pin down the Man-At-Arms/Wingman. He should work best with a Hero to work off of, but he shouldn't be crippled without one.

works off the hero or anyone else, for that matter

Does he go for tennis balls? Might be fun to destroy a room in your house bouncing it around in there!
