The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
First: I like metal. I prefer more vocals to screaming, while still enjoying a good growl and/or scream now and then. I've recently really been enjoying the album Overcome by All That Remains. If anyone could point me in the direction of similar music I would appreciate it.
Second: I've recently been getting more and more into a more bluesy-rock kind of sound. Cage the Elephant and a few White Stripes songs here and there have a good feel to them, but the Black Key's new album Brothers
feels spot on. If anyone could tell me who sounds like these guys and what I should call music of this this ilk, I would be grateful.
Wow! You answered fast and with embedded music. I am blown away. I'm already downloading Scar Symmetry, Communic, and Masterplan. Pain of Salvation has a great sound, but it sounds a little slow for me. Thanks for the recommendations.
I recently found Keep It Hid by Dan Auerbach who is the singer for the Black keys. Very good blues rock, the song "Heartbroken, in Disrepair" on this album is the first I heard and was amazed give that a show.
Also the 80's band Cinderella on their album "Long Cold Winter" has a lot of good blues rock.
If you put Dan Auerbach into Pandora.com there is a lot of good bands within his genre.
You absolutely need to look into Kyuss. They've got a touch of a bluesy style, but huge sounds, thundering rhythm and one of the most unique vocalists you'll ever hear.
The Atomic Bitchwax's lead guitar on the first few albums (I, II, and Spit Blood) is heavily blues inspired, but with bigger, ballsier, ruder licks and riffs than you've ever seen anywhere else. AC/DC will be laughable once you've heard the Bitchwax.
For metal with good vocals, look at Opeth. Blackwater Park is probably their best, he switches from death metal growls to nearly operatic melodies. If you like them, look up Damnation, it's almost all acoustic with even heavier classical guitar influences and nearly no growling.
Neurosis is great as well, and I'd push you to The Eye of Every Storm. It's like the best of Waters era Pink Floyd combined with post hardcore meets math rock but better.
Isis is a poor man's Neurosis.
The Baroness's albums are both wonderful, their EPs are mostly growled.

Musically, the only good band I can really recommend are Protest The Hero, but then again core stuff ain't really my thing :P
Screams are vocals, but I'm guessing what you mean is that you like cleans instead of growls :P Here's a random selection of some very good metal bands who you may or may not like.... They're all fairly different stylistically, so they're all worth a listen even if ya don't like the previous one.
The Human Abstract and Between the Buried and Me are two really great metalcore bands who use both harsh and clean vocals. In particular, that second video 'Foam Born' glides smoothly from a solo piano with clean vocals to a sort of a melodic hardcore to blast beats and screaming. A bit over two minutes in and it hardly even sounds like the same song.
Also I agree with all of Pheezer's recommendations. Just putting that out there.
I really appreciate all the responses. I spent the better part of an hour responding to every poster with large paragraphs of commentary when my power flickered and I lost it
So long story short, awesome music and you guys rock!

Have Heart, Between The Buried And Me and Protest The Hero are probably closest to what you want, but give them all a try...
Work Me
All You Ever Wanted
Arctic Monkeys have some cool stuff, here are a few of those:
Riot Van
Raconteurs, just buy both albums:
Blue Veins
And lastly, the black keys did a hip hop album that is fucking awesome. It's under the band name BlakRoc
Plenty of white stripes is good too but I'm losing interest in finding shit!

Pretty much the ultimate band when it comes to screaming/clean vocals is probably Acid Bath.
