Looking for an effective, easy to clean fan.

A couple years back, I bought a Honeywell twin window fan for my apartment. It worked well enough, but the vent and blades became filthy over time. The device proved impossible to take apart and clean, so I ended up just ditching the thing when it came time to move.

Now I'm looking to buy another fan, one that will hopefully be easier to clean. All I really need is something to keep my room moderately cool and circulate air, hopefully at a modest price. Can any of you recommend something for my purposes?

Wouldn't compressed air knock most of the crud out?

Yeah, it probably would have. D:

I just bought a cheap box fan at k-mart and put a pair of hooks on the top using metal screws. Then used an anchor and drywall screws above the window and hang a couple piece of rope. It's quiet, cheap, easy to take down and move to another room if I want to. The only real problem I have with going this ubercheap route is a good window-fit fan will let you close the blinds and have a screen to block visibility from the outside.

Not such a big deal on the second floor, kind of sucks when you're on the ground floor though.

I've found Vornado fans very easy to clean. I've even taken the motor apart a couple of times and re-assembled it without issue. Had the thing 9 years, still runs like a champ.

I don't know if they make a window unit, however.
