Windows Movie Maker... download?

I use this thing because it's an easy way to get huge fraps videos down to manageable sizes and convert digicam videos into emailable formats.

My problem is that recently I've been unable to use it, as importing a video causes the program to crash and leave bits of the drop-down menu sitting on my screen. Fucked up, I know.

I suspect a file or two got corrupted during one of many times I've driven my poor computer to utter self-destruction. I'd like to try and reinstall Movie Maker, but I can't. why? Because, apparently the only way to get WMM is through Microsoft Update, which won't let you download it if you've already "got" it... so uninstall it, right? wrong. It's un-uninstallable.

I've searched google. But I couldn't find anything. Is there a place where I can download the installer for this thing without going through Microsoft's Windows Update?

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest (as the FRAPS folks do) to use Virtualdub. It's a great little app, and that FAQ in the first link gives the steps needed to convert it quickly. It's very easy to work with. It doesn't give you much in the way of editing or transitions, but it's much better if you want to keep much of the quality of the original video and make it with the codec of your choice (I usually use DivX or XviD.)

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
