So, what does one need, realistically, to do a limited % run of Super Metroid without crazy button magic,
bomb jumps, glitches, or crazy wall jumps.
Edit: More concerned with big items than actual number of missiles/super missiles/etc.
Well, I think if you don't want to do bomb jumps or wall jumps... you may as well just not worry about doing a low% run.
They're the reason you can sequence break and get a low percentage, otherwise you may as well just play through without collecting any alternate items, I think it puts you somewhere in the 40%-50% mark to do in a casual sort of way, but it's been a while.

Yeah thinking about what I actually want to do has nothing to do with low % because I'm trying to do a run that relies more on missiles while negating things like the charge beam. Basically make enemies and especially bosses harder. More about what items i don't need that just make the game easier.
So more like: Do you need the ice beam? I know you don't in the first game but I can't remember if there is any other way to kill metroids.
You can power bomb them, but it takes three so you'll be needing to get a bunch of those expansions for this to not be a pain in the ass. I can't remember but I thought the ice beam was required earlier though due to map design.
Without using crazy button magic you can get the grappeling beam and use the perma charge exploit while fighting the fish boss and then proceed to beat the game in under an hour.

I thought that was a feature? Like an easter egg or something.

By 'exploit' are you talking about grabbing the exposed circuitry? Because that's obviously intended.
Spring Ball, X-Ray Visor, Spazer, Plasma Beam, Screw Attack, and Charge Beam are skippable without any real effort, though you might want Charge Beam if you're skipping Ice.
Grapple Beam, Space Jump, High Jump, and Wave Beam can be skipped with a little trickery and no glitches (actually, you *might* need Wave Beam to get Grapple without exploiting glitches).
Ice Beam, both suits, and Speed Booster can be skipped too, but not without considerable hijinks. You can't skip both Ice and Speed, though, and skipping either suit is obviously reliant on having quite a few energy tanks.
DO get quite a bit of ammo if you're skipping Charge, as the final boss is rather beefy--150 missiles and 30 super missiles would be a good minimum if this is your first attempt. Also, at least three energy tanks are REQUIRED to beat the game.

You grab the circuitry to beat the boss yes, but there's a way that you do it with the charged jump active and you can be permanently charged. It lets you just use the charge dash constantly and clear screens quickly for a very low time run.
