I kinda like Seth. Or whoever is the one with immunity.

Takes some guts or balls or something to go wild like that right off the bat. Especially if you have immunity.

I dunno, I could see him going far.

    About the winner
At least Kevin is better than Hosea!!!

But seriously, I didnt care much for the people on this season. So I am glad the rumours are pointing towards an All-star season up next. We need some more of the better chefs from seasons 5 and 6 back.

And I did watch up to the end of the quickfire challenge for the dessert Top Chef. Man 5 out of 6 male chefs are gay, what-are-the-odds-of-that??

That was just ridiculous. The editing made it clear in the first five minutes Kevin was going to win. Every single interview clip of him they used was him being nice and complimenting the other chefs and talking about his family. Meanwhile, Ed gets nothing but negative comments about the others and grumbling about Angelo being able to compete. Those were easily the most over-the-top hero and villain edits I've seen on this show.

the editing has been pretty blatant this entire season which is part of why i think it comes off as worse than the others. also too much gamesmanship. last season they would assist each other to make sure that they were competing on their food alone rather than some bullshit.

Just this season. Ugh. I am really hoping they do an all stars season next season with people who didn't win from previous seasons.

    About last night's episode
I am quite disappointed. It feels like Hosea again, guy who just got strung along because he never did poorly enough on a challenge to be sent home, but definitely did not deserve the top chef title. Also, Kevins comment at the end of it saying he was the first african american top chef. Wait, what? I seriously thought he was like hispanic? What am I missing here? I mean it's cool either way, just struck me as a very odd comment.

As awesome as Hung is (he's the "beast in the kitchen" that Kenny claimed to be), I don't see the need to bring back past TCs as sous chefs. They haven't had sous chefs all season, why have them in the finale? And on top of that, Ilan is clearly the short straw out of the 3, so it's not even fair. Ed tells Ilan to do dessert, presumably to keep him the hell away from the other dishes, and Ilan churns out... a Betty Crocker brownie and Cool Whip?

LOL @ the doctor pulling random stats out his ass. "This medicine has a 5% chance of being effective, you have a 20% chance of competing tomorrow."

    What are "white trash tongs"?

Ed was still a dick. And a coward too, hoping Angelo remains too sick to compete.

This season is not winning an Emmy next year.

Make a vegetable dish. -Here's some pasta and pork belly. :D

Fairly amused that on the same night Top Chef gave their winner $125k, the folks over at Master Chef were handing out $250k to amateurs whipping up chicken parmesan and apple pie.

    TC: Desserts

The male cast sneezes glitter. All due respect to the rest of Bravo's lineup, Ellen, Will & Grace, etc., but this might be the gayest show I've ever seen on TV. I don't expect the word "please" to be pronounced in a single syllable at any point in the entire season.

Pastry Elvis cracks me up, but he doesn't have the voice down.

Yigit was the exec chef under Daniel Boulud. Pastry Elvis was the exec under Jean-Georges Vong. WTF, Yigit should be a judge on this show, not a contestant.

LMAO @ insisting on calling Jacques Torres "Mr. Chocolate", even to his face. It was like Borat talking to a black guy.

Dannielle didn't know that people eat curry for dessert? Really?

How does a special bed help with insomnia? Why would the house even have an anti-insomnia bed to start with? Mr. Insomnia should probably get that tumor on his neck checked out too, before it wakes up and starts yammering on about starting reactors and freeing Mars.

    season finally
Ed kind of threw it with the dessert. It was very simple and he left it pretty much to his sous chef

Angelo - I don't know if i could have accepted it if he won. Hung did a huge amount of work for him. I liked Hung's "I already have it planned out" response to tom and "my , I mean Angelo pork belly" lines. I think they also showed Angelo tasting his food and then using the same spoon to continue mixing food, even though he was really sick.

Top Chef just desserts is pretty terrible. I watched the whole thing but it really didn't hold my interests. I don't find any of the cheftestants very likable. Even if some of them were palatable I don't know if I can follow a show focused just on desserts, I like desserts but they are not as interesting or as rounded as normal Top Chef. Also there won't be a restaurant wars, or a wedding to cater, I wonder what some of the bigger competitions will be.

I saw the same thing about Master Chef, BubbaT! I thought it was hilarious that they got twice the money as Top Chef.

The gay factor on Just Desserts really is astounding. I wasn't really keeping count, but other than the guy who had the kid, did any of the other men come off as being straight? Take away some of the "fabulous" and put it back on Project Runway, thanks.

Man, the gamesmanship on season 7 was pretty high, not unwatchably high but it was pretty irritating. Top Chef Dessert just seems like it's going to take it into overdrive. I mean, I suffered through the first episode but that season preview just put the nail in the coffin. Not even Hubert Keller as a judge can salvage that show for me.

So looking forward to having Marcel's unbelievable douchiness and arrogance back in our lives! Would have liked to see Stefan and the other Voltaggio brought back though.

Also, did anyone watch Desserts? How on earth did Seth stay on? That was like by far the biggest meltdown anyone has ever had on a cooking reality show. If I was a contestant on that show, I would be generally worried for my well being since it seems that Seth is incredibly unstable at the best.

I felt sorry for Tiffany because she got screwed by crappy GE equipment which got her eliminated, but she and Ed were jerks on the reunion show. Ed's douche side came out earlier in Singapore though, so that wasn't a surprise.

Ed/Tiffany: I still think Alex stole the pea puree.
    - Amanda: No, I saw him making it.
    Ed/Tiffany: Shut up, liar.

The "If They Mated" segment looked like it was done with MS Paint.

LOL @ the chefs admitting how big a role their "helpers" played in the finale. "Hung was awesome!" "Ilan sucks!"

Alex had the best line of the night.

Andy Cohen: If we had footage of you making the puree, we'd show it.
    - Alex: No you wouldn't, because it's not good television.

    Andy Cohen flat out sucks.

Andy: Hey Amanda, what had you all hot and bothered while we were filming the opening? *wink wink nudge nudge*
    - Amanda: Nothing, I was doing what your producers said to do.

LMAO @ "Timothy, do you still want to drizzle Padma?"

I missed the reunion episode, but huzzah for what will most certainly be an awesome season of top chef. I think the only bad thing is that it may be harder to see some people go at first since we're already familiar with all the contestants. But very very happy to see who all is going to be on season 8.

I'm thinking Jenn (from the Voltaggio season) will win out - hopefully, she'll be able to avoid the late season flakeout from last time.

My top four predictions - Jenn, Blais, Casey (from season 3), and...... Carla. I can't really see anyone from the first two seasons getting far - the show has come too far talent-wise since then (though I'd argue it regressed a little bit last season, but maybe that's just because every season 7 contestant was unlikable).

Don't count out Tre to win it. He only went home because he was the head chef of the losing team in Restaurant Wars. He was the obvious favorite to win before that.

E: well Hung was in season 3 also, wasn't he? So I wouldn't say favorite then...

I don't think you can realistically count most of these people out, they're by and large frickin great chefs. I'd love to know how they're going to set the season up, are they going to go through the usual challenges and quickfires or ramp it up somehow? I hope the latter.

Fabio was kind of a jerk in the premiere, but I have to agree with him. Genuine criticism is one thing (saying the chef "messed up A" or "used too much B" or "should have done C" or whatever), but I hate when judges just attack and insult a dish as if it was pure trash. Bourdain's complaints often didn't even have anything to do with the dish he was talking about, especially the colonoscopy one about Marcel's dish. There's no need to be a dick to the chefs just to try to stir up drama and make sound bites.
