doctor who is awesome

and I just spent an insane amount buying the second series dvd box set

B000JBWWP6.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V38080638_.jpg

even though the stories this year were a sight sillier than last's(sniffing and licking the wall to figure out a werewolf's weakness and then killing it with a giant prism gun, or a woman's patriotism overriding the cybermen brainwashing), it is still a totally awesome show and even though everyone says it's terrible I really want want torchwood in some legal, region-1 format

I really, really, really, really, really like david tennant as the new doctor

seriously

like even better than the last one

he is just so darned pretty

and looks like scarlet

    yes

    yes you would

because it is like one of those rare shows that can be a different genre every episode(angel is another good example)

because of the time and space traveling aspect

you can have an episode dealing with, like, political corruption in modern-times(if you can suspend disbelief to accept it's caused by aliens), and in the next it can be set in world war two dealing with orphans and some shit, I don't know

I WANT to like this. I've TRIED to like it, I've lied to myself but in the end I just can't enjoy this show. The budget is so low that I can't stand it when they introduce some alien or monster. The stories seem flat to me but maybe I'm just not giving it a fair shot.

I loved Firefly, Stargate (both series), sliders (until the original cast started dying), BSG, shit I've even enjoyed the current season of smallville mainly on the basis of green arrow (I'd go gay for that rich boy), but I CAN'T seem to understand whats so grand about Dr. Who and why there are constantly people worshiping it.

But we don't get Sci-Fi at the moment, and I'm bad at keeping track of when shows are on.

Oh that Queer as Folk show? I've never seen it but apparently it's a really decent show if you can get past the rampant gayness of it.

the writing in this can be pretty terrible but overall it is decent sf

and some of it is really, really good

usual episodes range from a 2.9 to 4.2 out of 5 but there are a couple that is really five-star, a-class product

This is totally not selling me on it. It's like saying "you should go to this restaurant. Sometimes they serve you terrible food but sometimes you will get something delicious."

    It sounds like gambling.

Maybe you should just tell me which episodes in particular I should download and watch and then I will check those out. Or will I know what is going on if I jump in this late?

Haaaha, oh man, I had no idea he wrote that too. The stupidest thing about Dr. Who and Torchwood is that 80% of his characters are totally gay.
Thinking about it now I don't think there was a single member of the main cast of Torchwood who didn't have at least a little implied homosexuality, most of them with full on homo action.
    It all makes sense now.

you have to take the good with the bad

honestly you should just start with the first episode of the relaunched and revamped series and keep going from there

seriously it is only like two twelve or thirteen episode seasons

not a lot of time wasted

No no. See, i didn't have any interest in BSG until someone told me to watch "33" and I said 'okay'. Since then I have become hooked and I backed up to the beginning and started from there and now I'm up to Season 3.

You should give me one good, stand alone example of an episode to whet my appetite.
