Suggest to me a Headset

Dunno if this should be in H/A but I figured most of you should have some sort of headset for game communication so I'll place the thread here.

Aaanyway, I've been using this cheapo headset for the past 8 months (it cost something around the lines of £7, according to my uncle). It was a perfect headset in terms of sound quality, both speakers and mic.
Of course, it died recently (more specifically the left side is dead, apparently this is a common problem), else this thread wouldn't be born.

So I'm here for suggestions on decent quality headsets that won't break my bank (I'm look around a budget of £20-£30, the former preferably).

Those not using British currency, I would appreciate any comments on what headsets you're using, any things to take note of (like how I can tell if the sound quality is decent from looking at the specs given at a website - "Sensitivity: -47 dBV/Pascal" means nothing to me at the moment).
Currently I'm looking at this and this but suggestions are welcome. I would just like a headset that gives decent sound quality (I listen to music on the headset often).

Your headset lasted 8 months? Wow lucky. I lost 4 headsets in 3 months. The one I have now is one I like a lot but you can only buy it in a certain stores in europe and fairly sure you can't get it in England.

I use the first one you linked and I have absolutely no problems with it, good quality and great sound.

Not those specifically, but they're nice.

But get SENNHEISER. Seriously. I've had my sennies for over a year now.

I second the Sennheiser suggestion. I had a Logitech headset that severely hurt my ears after a few hours; my Sennheiser headset I can wear indefinitely. And of course, the sound is excellent.

my KOSS SB45 have been good comfort and sound wise, though it appears that the mic has broken, probably from the chord being pressed under my chair or something, so that was a big gay.

Sennheiser is never bad though, even though these do block out noice from surroundings very well (can also be annoying 8-))

So yeah, Koss or sennheiser, I think sennheiser is more 'spensive, and also open style, and have slightly weaker bass, it's a question of preference really.

I'm looking for a good headset with a microphone myself. I have some el-cheapo 5.1 headset where I have yet to hear anything more than stereo, and from my cursing 15 minutes ago I suspect the microphone is dead.

Thanks guys, I'll put some consideration into the Sennheisers - I was a little unsure since they're major expensive, but I think I found the PC130 for £27, so I guess its not so bad :)

This man speaks the truth. I've had a pair of PC-150s for about two years now. Great sound quality, comfy, in-line volume control/mic mute, and a really high-quality mic. You can probably find them for less than $50 now.

I've been through two different Altec Lansing headsets and found them both top notch (the only reason it is two instead of one is that I let my brother borrow the first one)

I have Plantronics Audio 350s and like them a lot. Music is rich and gaming sound is solid. I haven't had any problems with the sound or the mic. It's also fairly cheap ($35 USD).

Consider getting the HD-580s instead and spending the difference on an amp.

In my experience, don't go for the high end stuff. Even if they're a little more comfortable, they're still going to break one day, just like all the others. I would recommend going with something around $20. Labtec makes some great sets at that price point.

And whatever you do, DO NOT buy a Logitech headset.

I have these as well, and they are good quality. But they are kinda uncomftorable.

Plantronics .audio 350s can be had at Best Buy for $25, actually. At least, that's how much I paid for mine.

I'd never pay more than $35 for a headset. They're almost certainly going to break within a year no matter what you do, so don't spend too much.

What are you guys doing to break your headsets so frequently? It almost seems like not spending more than $35 might be the reason they keep breaking; you're buying pieces of crap.

    SENNHEISER PC155 USB

I just ordered a pair of these from newegg.com. My old Logitech mic/headset , that came free with the collector's edition of UT2K4, foam is coming off.

So I wanted to get a decent set that should last a while, and are comfy for long sessions of use.

I'll let you know what I think when I get them.
