A7X fans... a question

Long story short, I went to an awesome party last weekend, in Bumfuck, West Virginia, of all places. Stranger than the fact that a black man, willingly traveled to WV, was the fact that before this, I, a die-hard guitar fanatic, had never encountered Guitar Hero, or Avenged Sevenfold. Needless to say, I'm now obsessed with both. The question I have, is about the song "Sidewinder," on "City of Evil." Is this song about an actual snake? This could be possible, since the band references Christianity quite often, except the snake in the garden didn't really bite anyone. Or is it about drug use, in the way that "Master of Puppets" was?
