Its an item in D&D where you pull a card and get a very powerful random effect.

One of which is your soul being sucked out of your body and into the Void, effectively killing your character forever.

I made that mistake once. They cheated me, used a rigged deck and got a King of Diamonds every single time.

They where all rich, level 15, and had castles in no time.

Rolo, which BG is that? I bet its 2, I never was able to get ahold of 2

Gametap did have them and a bunch of other great classic RPGs at one point but there was some sort of licensing issue. I remember they had Planescape, the Icewind Dale games and the Fallouts, too.

except Tycho is being disdainful, and CAD-face is somewhat different and used for everything

on the topic of the comic, I rather enjoyed this, as I have seen the damage that the Deck is infamous for firsthand.

maybe if one of your teammates pulls Wish and isn't a completely selfish cockbag. To wit, if they are not a bag, made completely out of selfish cocks.

then yes, the character can come back and all is dandy.

Yes, much in the same way that at the end of movies you can tell each other that all the people that died came back to life and had ice cream.

    Fucking deck of many things.

About 17 years ago, I played a game where my buddy threw it in there. The first person who drew from it actually got something awesome.

So then we proceeded to draw from it until we were all dead.

I ended up in the Abysmal planes.

The Deck of Many Things is amazing because any time one appears in a campaign everyone immediately develops the absolute worst "Just one more won't hurt"-level gambling habit ever.

    And then they all die.

I don't know about 4th edition, but 3.5 put some limitations on what you can wish for with the Wish spell. I've never been in a campaign where players actually got to use a Wish, but they're there.

Of course, I always figure the DM could place additional limitations, too. The best part I would think is if you go the "be careful what you wish for" route.
