The only way I'd accept a team game is if we decided who is on whose team before the game starts; that way, starfield placement doesn't dictate left side vs. right or whatever. It'll be interesting.
At about 6pm Central Time each day I'll be taking notes of what's happened over the last 24 hours in the game. Today I was able to do my first notes. Specifically Mifio and Lux buddy-copping it up together.
I'm already not pleased with a couple things in this game but I'm holding my peace until after the fact. We'll address it next game.
Edit - If someone can take a screenshot of the full game field, zoomed out to see everything, at about the same time I'm taking notes that'd be great. My computer acts funny when I zoom out a bunch for some reason.
I'm taking some quick notes of what I do in my game, and take a screenshot every day when I have time. Since I'm GMT, the time varies a lot, but I'm doing it.
Also, no need to zoom out completely... Just click the "MM" button and then the "C" button. Doing so is enough for me to capture the whole galaxy.
Also, team game next would be rad. I'm up for one!

I'd encourage everyone to keep a daily log of stuff we don't see in the game as public knowledge, to reveal at the end of this game (unless you feel it screws with your strategy). That way, context can be added to stuff that happens.
My strategy is... Never have one! I'm going blind in this one, thus. No journal.

Also I'm not encouraging people to post the journal logs. But when it comes time to shoot the shit about things, it'd just help remind them of when things were happening at what time, that sort of thing.
It's gonna be a fun month getting to know each of you.
I'll share my thoughts at the end don't get me wrong. I just don't think I need a daily log for that. Considering the majority of that log will be what stars I capture and what fights I got into. Which can easily be gained from the events log. :P

Is the public chat in-game broken for anybody else? Never loads. Someone should report this bug to Iron Helmet Games, since we are actually playing a paid-for premium game.

I figured that was just me. I don't need the public chat in all honesty, but it was a nice bonus to yell out cleanliness preaches.
Yo, I sent a test message in-game and the chat window cleared up for me, seemingly permanently (i.e. I reload the game and it loads just fine). Did this fix it for anyone else?
I'm gonna let the AI take over my part in this game. See you guys on the next one.

EDIT: Nvm, read it on the public chat. This is stupid. I get the pay time 30 minutes after I must leave home to go to university every day, yet I still play. It's not that big of a disadvantadge, really. Even tough some times (like tomorrow) uni starts later than normal so I'm online during pay time.

The pay time isn't the only reason. The biggest reason is because I got absolutely dicked over in the way of star placement. There's a big gap on 3 sides of my starting cluster, and just a few stars to the east that have already started getting gobbled up. I'm just boned in this game and I'm not pleased.
Edit - And I realize this comes across as sore-loser sounding, but really, my experience with this game thus far just points out that I'm fucked in this situation. It's a more extreme version of what happened in one of the public games I discussed here where I was cut off from the galaxy except through one route, and the biggest player in the game cut me off at that point.

Hey, look at me! I've got 6 people surrounding me on different flanks, everyone basically has direct jump range into my home stars with just the first ranged upgrade. Tell ME if that isn't being boned? Still, I don't give up. Anyways, do what you want. You could always move your ships all to one planet and let me capture the rest right :P?

Also, if it's that so bad, get on a real alliance with one of your neighbors. Diplomacy is mostly important when you're in a position like me or you.

Well as I indicated in-game, the few people who can actually get to me right now can feel free to start grabbing my shit, you'll mostly go uncontested.
I was going to quit on this day one when I saw my situation, and decided to go for it, but I forgot what the default / early speed settings are (my previous games have spoiled me with super-fast travel), so I realized the extent to which I really don't have a chance. And getting into fixed alliances with people because of something like this rubs me the wrong way.
I'm also having a bad day in general so my lack of enthusiasm is tenfold right now.
I'm not in an ideal position either. I've been working 12+ hour days, so I don't get to use up my money until half a day has passed. Plus, all my "uncontested local stars"? I can't reach them without enough fleet range, which I can't even trade for, because everyone else in the entire game has already traded for what I chose to research out of the gate.

Wait, I'm confused. Combat is instantanious when two super carriers meet at a planet, right? Before I had an invading force on one of his planets, but it was still his colour, and now the defense force is in the middle of warping to one of my defenseless planets (with my invading force intact and his planet mine).
