I did the illustrations for all the aliens (and human) for Neptune's Pride. I had nothing to do with any of the gameplay or else that you guys are enjoying, but Im still rather happy that people like it!
The alien portraits are awesome to a degree disproportionate to the actual game, which is itself pretty good.
My supercarriers have gained sentience, but have agreed to accept citizenship and continued military service in my empire of squidling brosefs in exchange for generous pension plans to take effect in the future Golden Age of green and red - the Pax Oceana.
Okay so this game is getting kinda painful to play. I don't whether I'm at a big disadvantage being a GMT player, or since I only log on once or twice a day, but I can't react to anything at all. I kinda thought that the massive space between me and Orange/Purple would allow me to see their ships enroute before they attack or something, but I logged on to find an invasion force already having taken 3-4 of my planets.
I guess it's kinda wierd to be wishing this game was even slower paced.
I saw that too. Maybe he was just checking in? I feel like Joemunkeh & I were playing in Dad's office, throwing around his papers and smoking his cigars, and then Dad came home.
Ya I am pretty screwed if he comes back...especially since I have had the 1st and 2nd largest fleets eating me alive on my opposite flank. SAD TIMES

I was indeed checking in. I'm surprised you guys decided to wipe someone out of the game already (wow, unforgiving) but all of you are almost even in territory space. What the fuck gives, your forum posts implied guys were getting steam-rolled and the game was ending soon. :?
I didn't touch anything, I'm still researching range a lot apparently. :P
territory doesn't mean much when 2 fleets of 600 just wittled my 500 fleet down. Top two fleets taking out the 3rd and then steam rolling the rest afterwords not so happy times comin' in the next few days for most of us hehe.
PA games are way more fun. My other game right now is dead because no one is responding to my diplomacy/trade messages. They're clearly still playing, but no one wants to even talk tech.
Finally. God, you've been annoying me since the beginning of the game... This game brings out the best in people :P
Our conversation in the beginning of the game was, summed up, like this:
Me: Want to do a NAT?
Blurbl: Sure
*He attacks me anyways*
Don't worry too much tough, I don't see myself lasting much longer. :P

My only regret was that is wasn't a very effective backstab.
Need to build up a few days of trust first I think.

Yes, you do. You also need to build a few allies NEXT TO YOU that, preferably, flank who you're backstabbing, then you backstab that person at the same time... Don't give them a fighting chance.
By you back-stabbing me, you made us both lose the game, since we had to concentrate on building industry and our ship count dropped while other players let it rise. Near the end, you and me had more or less 200 ships each... All other players had like 500+, why? They didn't fight 1vs1 battles! You should back-stab only when you've got an advantadge, like, if you've got an ally so that it's a quick job wiping the other player's planets (see Stopgap).
That has to do with me sending a message to all other players not allied with you telling them how your alliance of the top-3 players in the game was a menace that had to be stopped, and that it was in their interest to do so... And then keeping them supplied with any information I could gather from my/dark green's scanner range.
Thing is, I guess most of those players are going to be grabbing my planets once you're defeated, so that they can come closer to the Win Threshold... That's the game. Still, got my Revenge on brown and by proxy on his allies :P

So yeah, thanks for making us lose :P
Hey hey hey hey hey.
Those were my planets. Not my fault you settled them. 8-)
I waaay overestimated how much of a disadvantage you would be at with the (I thought at the time) large gap between those planets and your core worlds. I figured you would be too wary of your neighbours to dedicate your whole army, while I could since I had the space Berlin wall to my north and east.

Noobs be noobs etc.
Well, I was lucky enough that I was able to get a NAT and border agreement going with all my neighbors, so I could concentrate on you.
Don't worry much tough. Had you not attacked me, and if I'd succeeded anyways getting peace with all my other neighbors, you'd probably have been the first to go too... I'd have waited a while until I actually had a chance to fight without having to waste all my ships - like for example, by allying with the players north of you...
But anyways, YOU MADE US BOTH LOSE :P Well, I lost "less", since I still have a couple planets and about 300 ships, but I'm guessing that won't last too long...
You guys discuss the events of this game, and your near-death positions, way too much. :P
Is a victor (team) imminent? I wanna start a game with my own rules. Namely not allowing official alliances because fuuuuuuuck that.
Basically, the Brown-Red-Green Alliance (the previous top-3 players of the game) is mostly wiped out. Blurbl gave up after getting attacked by the two northernmost players, and Red is not getting owned by 5 different players at once. Green is the only one that seems to currently be in a position that he can fight back successfully - at least while everyone is busy with Red.
I'm like at half the planets I started with, but after diplomatically getting everyone to eliminate the top-3 players in the game, I'm mostly neutral and hope that I'll still last quite a while :P
Once Red and Green are gone tough, everyone's gonna be wondering who they'll fight next... And I'm basically between the super-powers. The Northern-most alliance, Mifio and Lux, and then south of me is the other Super-power alliance: Elvenshae, Reasonable Hobo and Darkewolfe.
Thing is, I'm allied with both of those - so that they can pass through my territory without attacking me... But I expect that once someone starts nearing the "Planet Threshold" for winning, they'll attack my planets as a quick way of getting there
But hey, I didn't expect anything more after starting the game in the position I did and having blurbl attack me the whole game... I'm actually kind of surprised I survived this far with so many stars (16) - unlike Stopgap did, for example.
Gravewish is like Switzerland. He has all the money, everyone attack him gogogo.
At least for me yellow, if you leave me alone I'll leave you alone. Dunno about Lux though.

It's funny because Portugal is broke as fuck. Gravewish is letting the real world affect his gaming!

I might actually just drop out. It seems like everyone who isn't me is in a giant super-alliance with every other person, which is pretty dumb and will be boring to play through.
I think the super-alliances were only made to counter the original Super Alliance of Red-Lime-Brown.
Every single player having their knives at my throat all at once sort of makes things ludicrous, though. The worst I ever did was attack munkeh, who had started it by attacking me. I'm quite the noble pacifist, really.

Well we all did, some probably had better starting positions.
Honestly I'm not really familiar with the game, I'm barely finishing my first non-PA game which I finished in third due to allying with the second strongest player but I just assumed with this many players super-alliances were bound to form. Meeting that planet quota isn't something you can do by yourself. The alliance system just makes it easier to attack or defend allies, but then I guess that probably depends on the terms you agreed to ally under.

If we were only going to attack people who deserved it, this wouldn't even be a competition. You got dealt a bad hand, but there are still things you can do to turn it around.
Also, it totally defeats purpose of the intense planning and strategy that your enemies put into into it when you go idle at the first sign of muscle.

It wasn't a serious statement.

In whole, since everyone in the game has only me to attack, 4000 ships are against me. They have, generally, higher weapons and higher research driving their tech up, which doesn't have a lot of things to turn it around.
This being such a slow paced game, I don't have a lot of interest in devoting a very long time to what will be not super fun. A flaw in the pacing.
With all due respect to the intense planning that went into what accidentally turned out to be a dogpile - Divide my worlds as you will, folks.

Hey that dude is a psychic sentient broccoli! Get it right.
Also, I laughed out loud when I saw your avatar Elven - that guy is still probably my favorite.

Do not over-extend yourself helping your allies. They will abandon you or turn on you. Possibly both.
Indeed.
Its hard to choose good allies in the sea of mistrust!
My only regret was that is wasn't a very effective backstab.
