[Semi-Solved] Bought Mirrors unrated dvd missing special features case says it has!
Opinions on the movie aside, the problem with the dvd is that the case says it has special features, such as deleted scenes and director's commentary, however none of these features are on the dvd. The Special features menu only gives me the choice of watching the rated/unrated version of the movie or trailers. I returned the dvd and exchanged it for another copy of the movie however it too does not have the special features even though the case clearly says that it does. Scouring the internet brought me no answers so I turn to all of you.
Does anyone else have the DVD and also have access to these special features, or are they also missing for you?
**update so you can all sleep at night** Swapped the DVD again and checked at the store with my laptop and found one that has all the special features. The guys at the store were super nice about it. But two unlucky people in the future are going to buy those DVDs and probably end up here after a google search. Must be just some sort of factory error. Thanks for all your help guys!
I still put my panties on one leg at a time -- if you know what I mean...
Did you try to navigate the DVD folders and examine the files individually?, perhaps it does lack the special features or a mastering error was made when they created the DVD.

Thanks for the suggestion Fantasma. I had tried that and the special features aren't anywhere to be found. Before that I had tried the DVD on multiple DVD players thinking that there could be multiple menu pages or screens that list the special features. Sometimes my regular dvd player has problems with menu text that is highlighted and won't show text or buttons, but that was not the case.
Only one reviewer on Amazon stated that they had the same problem with the DVD and no one else seems to have had that issue, except me now. o_O

Is it a double-sided DVD? Or is there by chance another disk hidden in the case somewhere?

This was my thought. I've got a few where the special features are on one side of the disk while the actual movie is on the other. Generally they'll give you a bit of a hint on the disk itself though.
The website for Mirrors says that the DVD has two discs and that the second disc is only a digital copy (if you look, it appears that they mixed-up the listing on their own website for the DVD and Blu-Ray version - go Fox!)
The listing of the special features on the back of the DVD says the commentary is available for the Deleted scenes and alternate ending features. But I went ahead and tried using the audio button and checking the audio tracks on my pc and nothing aside from the options of English, Spanish, or French.
Amazingly enough I had found a dvd review site that has a screenshot of the special features menu
Again, when I access special features the items in the image above aren't listed. It lists the Theatrical/Unrated version and "Trailers" that leads to the trailers menu - which does not have any additional special features.
That site also has the full dvd review here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/35966/mirrors-unrated/ where the reviewer states "we've received a screening copy of Mirrors that contains unfinalized video and audio presentations for the film" so that might have something to do with it - but then you'd think more of the online reviews would state that the special features are missing.
I did buy this DVD used and I went back to the store yesterday and exchanged it and managed to get another DVD that's missing the special features. They had like 4 or 5 copies so I'm going to try again this afternoon and bring in my laptop so I can check them until I find one that has the extras! I would have been very upset to buy this DVD new and had the same issues. Still - I'd like to find someone who didn't have this issue and see if there's any difference in the packaging or something!

I wonder if there's a customer service number you can call. Maybe look at the website of whatever company mastered the dvd...?

The dvd was used? I used to work at a video store and some of the less knowledgeable employees couldn't tell the difference between special and regular editions when they were prepping used stuff for sale. Perhaps this kind of situation is where the problem came from?
