Well it's laptop shopping time.
I know there is a technology forum but I'm gonna post this here and piss off a mod (maybe) but get more eyes to see the thread as I am against the clock.

I made the mistake for going into bestbuy and with a budget I had bought some amd hp notebook that sucked. It had a 4200 "card" in it only 128mb dedicated.

So returned it and was again sold on a $749.99 hp with an ati 4250 card that has some video issue and I have to return it.

So now I'm so lost as to which direction to go re: video card and CPU. I don't game a lot but I'll buy Starcraft 2 and maybe play a fps...

So Here's my question:
Im mainly not gaming just streaming hd video and editing hd video occasionally and Photoshop.

-i3 vs i5... Splitting hairs? Or super important?
-integrated vs dedicated video. Will I be able to play ANYTHING with integrated video? Or am I sol.

I'm done with hp and amd.

And I have to buy from bestbuy as that's where i have the credit from original purchase..
And i gotta buy soon I guess.

If you want to play games, don't get a laptop.

I would suggest reading this article about the differences between Core i3's and Core i5's:

and this one on differences between Core i5's and Core i7's:

If you can spring the extra $100, try out this laptop. Dedicated GPU, i5 (granted, it's only the 3mb cache model, but it should suffice for what you're after) proc, adequate RAM, and a 7200RPM HDD. Shoot, if I had the spare cash, I'd definitely spring for one.

Page not found but I think I've seen that one...
I'm looking for a larger screen, that's one of the reasons I tried two hp models although both were garbage...

There is one samsung but it's been discontinued to make way for the newer mobile i5 that's down the line, also bestbuy in store and online has two different prices for the same system so it's $50 more in store.

Not like I wanna save $50 (har har) and bestbuy said no to price matching it...

It seems like the dream machine albeit really red and a fingerprint magnet:

Rawr! Link rage time! Okay...SKU look up will take you right to it: 9736955

Basically, the ASUS line of computers are going to be the best performance-at-a-budget deals at Best Buy (as long as you're not looking at the G7x [where x is a whole number between 0 and 9] line).

As for that Samsung, the video card is really what is going to be throttling you (also, the 5400RPM hard drive won't help any).

Any particular reason you need a laptop? I made a rig for 700 that runs starcraft 2 on the highest settings.

Yes because I'm travelling with it so I'm more concerned with the graphics chip being the bottleneck regarding video streaming and is os performance in the future.
I have an intel based Mac that can't stream 1080p if too many windows are open and when I bought it in 2006 I wouldn't have ever fathomed that would be an issue.

So im trying to ballpark what will keep me decently working for the next 2-3 years until windows 8 and new web standards...
