WHY can I not figure out what to do here. I'm near the beginning,
past the bear traps and the falling rock log and such. I'm at a small body of water with a pushable crate next to it, and I can't for the life of me get across. I've tried floating across, I've tried running on the top of the box, I know it must be something simple, but I just can't get it.
Think simpler. I was stuck there for a long time as well, but it isn't what it looks like.
... There's one achivement I saw, "Beat the entire game in one sitting, dying less than 5 times." ...
Would anyone mind posting a list of the achievements?
Can't get to any gaming sites at work, but after seeing one of them I'm dying to know the rest...
The achievements are pretty basic.
The one to beat the game is 100 points, there's the one that mxmarks mentioned; the rest are finding secret little items throughout the game.
There's nothing fancy or very advanced.
I just beat it in one sitting; definitely died more than 5 times though.
To be honest I'm not sure it'd be feasible, for me, to do it in under 5 deaths even knowing every puzzle now just because so many parts require precise timing and it's not so much about knowing how to solve the puzzles.
And it wasn't very hard either, overall. Just too many of the "time this jump perfectly or splat" situations where you could end up playing for a couple hours then get dorked over by one mistimed jump.
Oh well. It was a fun little game. Nothing groundbreaking, but still pretty impressive. I'm not entirely sure, looking back, that it was worth the $15; maybe on sale sometimes, but oh wells.
I'm broken now and need some kind of hint or something.

Just got done with the brain parasite part where you keep jumping on a bunch of platforms and jump over a giant spinning sawblade.
Right now, I have a box. I have to get this box up an elevator and across a little seesaw thing so I can use it to grab onto some crane-like thing. The seesaw fucks up the box's ability to move, and I need another box or something to weigh down the other end.
There is nothing else around that I can put on the other side of the seesaw. I've looked everywhere.
edit: There's a little dangly rope above the elevator to the left. I can jump on top of said elevator to access it, but there seems to be nothing there.
EliteBattleman on
This is my sig.
There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Don't read this unless you really want the solution
If you lower the elevator you'll notice a handle on the side of the lower portion. As it goes down (when it's at the top) you can grab it and pull it over to the stable platform, and pull it over the edge of the lever so you can push the box up.
I'll just say this also, unless you already found it, that's not all there is in this area.

Enjoying the game enough, it's nothing new, it's pretty much just a scrolling Heart of Darkness which is by no means a bad thing. I'm also not getting where everyone is saying it's scary... it's really not. I'm a wimp when it comes to frightening games, I've yet to get through Siren on the PS3. This is a little eerie with the whole look but it's definitely NOT scary.
One gameplay idea I don't like is (mid-ish game spoiler)
Those little orbs that stop you changing direction. It was neat the first time but after that I lost interest.
I must admit, after following it for this amount of time I'm a little let down. It's fun but I don't think it's worthy of all the praise it's received.
PA commented on Braid getting that bullshit flack during it's release:
Oh, heh ok.
Yeah, I was pretty pro-braid (still am) and felt like it was absolutely worth the $15.
This game I'm not sure I can say the same.
It's certainly a really good game but it clocks in under three hours and there's not much to do aside from the very base game. Braid at least had a longer game and a lot of little secrets for those who really wanted to delve into it. The secrets in this game are more obvious and a lot less involved.
Though, I just consider the higher price a "lets get people to do more creative things with games" tax. So it's all good.
Only premium themes I've really liked are the braid theme (I love the burning sky background) and the Alan Wake themes that came with the collector's edition.

It isn't too hard, but if you are desperate:
Hint
Flat out answer
Gonna make this a tough week and a half...

Apparently the ESRB has rated it for the PS3 and PC but there is no date.
I suspect, like Braid, it'll be somewhat dependent on its success on XBLA.
And I suspect, like Braid, there's gonna be a lot of "controversy" over the 1200 point pricetag.

I added that part in.
Hmm. 15 dollars does buy a lot of tacos.

PA commented on Braid getting that bullshit flack during it's release:
Braid (and Limbo so far) have easily justified every cent.
That should be photoshopped. Make them shadows and change the one phrase Braid to Limbo, it would all hold true.
And throw in some fucking BEAR TRAPS!

They only cost $8.50 here, unless you do imax or 3d, then they're about $12.

1/2 - 2/3 maybe?
EDIT: It really depends on how much trouble you have with some of the later puzzles.

My friends all have stuff like the HOTEL letters, there's a noose, a bird on a crate, a buzzsaw. Yeah, my dashboard is SO in purgatory right now.
Emtanaki just beat me score...

Yeah I toyed with buying the theme just because of the atmosphere but I've been burned with themes before.
Is there a place, a site, that lists all the premium themes and gives screenies/previews for? It's really dumb you can't preview them in Live.

about halfway through, spoilers up to that
when i got caught in the web i thought for sure i was dead until i realized i could move, and then freaked out again when it tried to chase me
and then it tried to chase to chase me again until i took it out with a goddamn boulder
and then the little fucker's lurching at me with one leg!
as i rolled the thing into the spike pit i was just muttering for it to stay dead this time
Thanks.
I'll pass on that. It loses a lot (all) of the atmosphere when it's not animated and doesn't have the sounds.

Yeah the Themexbox.com site of his has a really nice listing of all of the themes on their forum. Seems like there's previews for everything.

We need more Portal-length pieces of work.
Cue the complaints about price.
Braid was worth it. This is almost guaranteed to be worth it.
Back on topic, how many people got the first achievement for...
I did. It's the only achievement I've got in the game thus far(see gamertag in my sig)
Which, I guess, is understandable. But I have no problem chalking it up to an act of charity for a small developer.
Yeah, I got that too, just because if they ever give me an option to go off the beaten path in any game, I take it.
