So I just got up to Scotland on a weekend trip, and my iPhone isn't charging after running out of juice on the way up. I'm using a third-party cable with the official USB-to-mains adapter, and it's just been stuck on the low-charge screen for more than half an hour after plugging it into the wall.
I'm wondering if anyone knows what's going on and if I can charge it somehow? I had it running off my netbook on the way up just to give it a bit of extra juice - it gave the fully-charged plug symbol in the top corner when it obviously wasn't, and I'm worried that might not have helped it any. It could just be that the electricity up here isn't strong enough to charge it, just power it, similar to how an iPad behaves when plugged into a PC. Both things I realise are unlikely, though.
So, yeah. Am I stuck without a phone or MP3 player or mobile internet until I get home and sync it? Or is there some way of resetting it someone knows that will allow it to charge? I've tried holding down Home and Power to reset it and powering it on by just plugging the cable in or by the button and then plugging the cable in.
EDIT: If I unplug the cable, it shows the 'needs charge' screen, with the plug and lightning bolt, and after switching off won't turn on even to show that screen again. It just doesn't seem to be receiving any charge at all, even though it knows that it's plugged in.

With the cable, try a piece of paper and put it in the gap, of the "iphone-connection-plug". Maybe there is some dust etc. stuck there.
Do the same with the port on the iphone. You could also try clean the contacts with a bit of cleaning alcohol - be carefull though I dunno if this would set up the "moist detectors" and void your warranty.
It might be that the wall adapter isn't working properly. Mordern USB devices can detect if the voltage is out of spec and won't charge.
This leaves the question why it isn't chargin of the netbook then. You could assume, that the netbook doesn't provide any juice, but I can't imagine that.
Did it charge of the netbook before?
EDIT: Uh, temporarily. Although I may have borrowed it through time also.
