Limb removal! woo. Lightsaber still looks a tad weak. Stormtroopers should be easily carved. I like that they're gonna make force powers more interesting. That lightning ball he fired was awesome.
It's called The Force Unleashed, not the Lightsaber Unleashed. The game is about showcasing ridiculous force powers and letting you completely destroy things with them, like the first game. The lightsaber is there for some quick damage on lower difficulties and deflecting the occasional blaster shot. Pretty sure they said their motto is still 'kicking peoples ass with the force'.

I really do suspect the second lightsaber is more to do with marketing the game. It's easier to show off a new, better Star Wars game by increasing the amount of lightsabers. Just look at the gameplay - he's tearing stuff up with force powers, not lightsabers. The force is obviously still their focus.
I've been rolling with [TFU] as my clan tag for a while now. "Spaced" fans will get the reference, but I figure most people think it's The Force Unleashed.

Still, while I can understand making sure that the Force is your go to offense, the lightsabers being ridiculously gimped is still somewhat annoying. Especially when the lightsabers are like LOOK WE ARE HERE! I'd almost prefer he doesn't even unholster them until you hit the lightsaber/deflect button. That would be even more badass. And it wouldn't make him walk like he's got some sort of spinal condition.
That said, I found the demo of TFU to be a good couple hours of fun, but I never bought it, or rented it, and don't feel particularly bad about that fact. I'll be keeping an eye on this one, regardless.

The entire lightsaber thing has gone to hell after they introduced Darth Maul anyway.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
While the first game's mind-numbing initial atrociousness was mollified after a few patches (seriously, check it out now, it feels like they tightened up blocking and targeting and dealt with some of the stunlock issues) I can never forgive it for introducing what must be the most spectacular plot hole ever into star wars canon:
So Bail Organa had already been aboard the death star by the time ANH rolls around. Apparently.

It feels like it because that's what they did. Most notably, they added invulnerability frames in your knock down/get up animations (so you could actually get up and move before being knocked down again), and prioritized your attacks over enemies (so you would interrupt enemy attacks with your own attacks, not the other way around).

I still don't understand why they're moving backwards from Jedi Outcast/Academy with TFU 1 and 2.

Nice. I knew something felt different about the game when I popped it in again a few weeks ago. Its status becomes upgraded to 'tentative recommendation' now.

They're not, they're moving sideways. They're emphasizing ridiculous force powers rather than good lightsaber combat. To move forward, they need to add Outcasts lightsaber combat to the game and expand on it, but they're definitely not moving backwards.

Thats true. I guess I just prefer saber combat.
And I suppose its also true that, with the exception of Heal, Jump, and possibly Speed, Force Powers were relatively irrelevant in Jedi Outcast and Academy as the lightsaber did everything better and in the case of enemy Jedi usually the lightsaber was the only option anyway.

Force Powers in Outcast were definitely meant for the lower end enemies. The problem is, at least as I remember it, there were generally so many that you needed to still rely on your lightsaber. Though, I do remember one amusing bit in Outcast involving stormtroopers coming up on an elevator. A well placed force pull would pull the group of them almost up out of the elevator chute, then they'd all fall back to their deaths.
At least in TFU, your force powers will absolutely destroy the enemy. The above situation is more the rule, not the exception. When your froce powers are leveled up decently, you'll just blow through huge groups of normal enemies. TFU2 looks like it's building on that even more.

Force Jump + Pull was probably one of the most fun things in Academy involving Force Powers.
And I did like the two-handed lightning in Academy.

The guy's a major bad luck charm.
At least he didn't see the guts of the station like the Apprentice, and had no way of knowing its intended purpose. And by the time of ANH, the rebels knew of the Death Star's existence, that was the whole point of Leia's mission. Find a weakness so it can be destroyed.

www.unleashed2010.com is pretty cool marketing. It changes with every content update, too. You can catch the old version on YouTube. Or, for your convenience, right here!
I also recently played through the last handfull of levels on the 360 version and noticed that it seemed much easier than I remember. Do we know if the patches i've seen here actually make it to consoles?
And like most I think I have a love hate relationship with this game. I really liked the characters and SOME of the gameplay was great but there were enough annoying pieces that made me rage.
The lighting and effects on the new one look great and it will probably have the same effect on me as the first.
PS. I hate the way he holds the lightsaber and giving him two makes it worse. I'm such a purest, in that I like a single lightsaber that the wielder is using as a fencing type weapon and/or a heavy two-hander. Aren't they originally supposed to be katanas/samuri swords?
There were points that annoyed more then they should; but I still loved this game. It was just fun. Looking forward to the second. If they tighten it up a bit, like the patch did to the first, it should be awesome.
I always take plot elements in the SW universe with a grain of salt, even if they're "cannon". I just have fun with it.
Infact, I'm going to have to get this back from my Brother-in-law and play through this again
1. Yes, the patches made it to 360/PS3
2. I don't think that lightsabers were ever intended to be anything other than awesome glowing sticks. Go back and watch any of the battles in the original trilogy; no grace, they're just flailing wildly trying to smack each other. It wasn't until the prequels that you got actual eastern sword techniques being employed in the choreography (not counting non-cannon sources).

In 1 BBY, Fett was hired by Grand Moff Tarkin to bring in Solo, who had deserted from the Imperial Navy long ago. While Fett tracked Han Solo from Hoth to Tatooine, Vader, also in pursuit of Solo, was not far behind. Fett eventually located Solo in a cantina and placed a trap near the back entrance. As Fett waited for his prey to enter the trap, Vader appeared and attempted to take Solo by force. Fett, not wanting the bounty taken from him, engaged Vader in battle as Solo tried to escape out the back. Solo ran into Fett's trap, a stasis-field, which immobilized him. Vader took the upper-hand in battle until Fett made an unexpected move, unleashing a lightsaber of his own. The two clashed briefly, and though Vader's skills with the lightsaber greatly out-matched Fett's, Boba's brute force, ferocity, and pure determination allowed him to hold his own. In the fray, the stasis-field was damaged and Solo escaped. Vader, more interested in catching Solo, removed himself from the fight and took Fett's lightsaber with him, though Fett would lose Solo's bounty. Angered, Fett declared that he would find Solo, wherever he hid.

But a stand-up lightsaber duel with Vader
What the fuck ever
Yeah, the Academy fight was kinda fun because it was like a reverse boss fight. Fett can't take you on with his weapons directly so he darts around and blows stuff up around you, whittling you down, usually what a player does to a larger/more powerful enemy in other games. (Or any smaller force vs a more superior one)

Except that even though he has a limited amount of health he is un-killable. I got him trapped down in a tunnel when he was way low on health and then unloaded every explosive on him and his health just stayed very low. I also spawed a rancor which ate Fett. His torso disappeared, but his legs, head and gun remained as he continued to fight the rancor.
The JA fight was much better than DF, where I killed him in like 2 shots with the dark trooper cannon.
