Speedpaint Week! (7/5 - 7/12)

Today is speedpaint day!

A speedpaint is a painting done in as little time as possible to get your point across. It's used a lot in movies and games to portray a scene or environment.

Today we will be stretching our art muscles and painting some environments!

Choose one of these subjects (or make up your own) and try to keep it under 1 or 2 hours:

- Jungle Commando
- Desert Monolith
- Aerial Battle
- Coastal Port
- Wasteland

    Totally had a realistic thing going on before I decided to change some things when it didn't look right (This version was about 30 minutes:

    There I'm done, my first speed paint ever. Not as speedy as I'd hoped for but I'm very satisfied.

    Nice work everyone : )

    I spent way too long on this (about 2 hours) and I'm still not happy with how it looks. I should have kept things looser and focused on the whole picture more.

    I think I may keep working on this however, but I want to try and do a quicker, looser painting.

    I'm really digging this thread - I can't wait to see what unfolds over the week.

    Menace I really dig the one on the last page, the one with the watercolor'ish feel. I think it works well with the clean lines you have.

    That is some amazing work guys! Where (and how) did you all learn your techniques? I'm still pretty new to the speedpainting thing.

    I learned pretty well much everything I know from this forum, or from sources recommended by this forum.
    Then again, i do kinda suck.....so I'm really not sure if that's such a glowing recommendation.

    If I could paint half that well, I wouldn't say I suck. You must bestow upon me all your painting secrets!

    So it's ok for me to learn from this thread & all? > o> Pretty much all I've done is anime-style art my whole life, not much realism.
