Hello there! Long time lurker, first thread, etc. I've posted some stuff in the doodle thread before this.

Last wednesday I went to my first ever figure drawing session. The classes are completely undirected, and I'm turning to you guys to critique what I come up with so I don't fall into bad habits from the start. Sorry about the bad quality; I have no access to a scanner right now so I'm suck using a pretty terrible camera.

Poses were 30 seconds to ten minutes.

And here's some other things, not from class:

Classes are every wednesday, so I'm planning on (hopefully) updating this weekly with more life drawing.

Looking pretty good so far, keep up the good work.

Is that last one a Swamp Dragon? It's got a very Paul Kidby look to it.

It wasn't intentionally swamp dragon inspired, but I do love Paul Kidby's Discworld paintings. He does some excellent sad looking dragons.

I was hoping to be a lot more active with this thread than I was. But my last class got cancelled. Then I moved out of my house. Then I realized I lost my camera, so I can't post from class this week. So here is another thing I was working on.

So this was the first session I could go to get to in the last couple weeks (I have been absolutely terrible at keeping this updated). Definitely feel out of practice even after missing a couple classes. The darker shadows suggestion is a good one, I definitely shy away from using darker values.

Tried to see how many faces I could draw in 20 minutes.

You have some good observational skills, which is apparent by how well you render the figure from different viewing angles. I'm assuming these are from life and not from a book. I've taught life drawing for many years, and have become convinced that it is better to learn from life, because it allows for a better grasp of form in space. As for further advice, consider longer, faster, more sweeping lines, rather that choppy ones. Also, vary you line weight, darker and thicker in areas that overlap or in key points on the figure. Overall, you have some nice sketches; do fifty more by next week -ha!

    oh man the eggs!
good design on those fish, nice straights vs, curves, really adds to the character's personalities

keep posting, you've got some great things here.
