IT'S OUT ON VIDEO!
Christopher Nolan, director of Memento, The Prestige, and brain behind the two-movie deep reboot of the Batman series, has unleashed Inception, a sci-fi movie that he's been writing for near a decade.
Inception deals with the idea of a "Dream thief". Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb, a man who can steal your ideas in a procedure called
extraction. Along with extraction, Cobb and his team also provide extraction defense (the prevention of extraction), and inception... that is, the planting of an idea in your head by invading your dreams using godmachines.
Here's the official plot synopsis:
Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception.
Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime. This movie has been rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action throughout.
The movie, both written and directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight), also stars Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger and Michael Caine.

Inception was a very large success, with a domestic total take double that of the production ($292 mil and $160 mil, respectively), not to mention foreign box office gross and DVD/BluRay sales that are just heating up. It's nice to see a movie not made by Bay or Cameron being successful.

Personally, I loved this movie.
Posts
From what I understand, yes.
There's also DiCaprio's wife who died of suicide who "is as close to a femme fatale" as the movie has.
A) Im pumped for this flick.
Nolan using Gordon-Levitt in this, and using Cillian Murphy as well gives me hope that maybe Levitt will make cameos as the Joker in future Batman movies. No way should he ever be a focus or main villian, but he could totally pull off small scenes by channeling Ledger.

Edit: Just read it. Seems hes reacting negatively to the overhyping, as that seems to be the only real quibble he has with the movie.
While I'd love to see Gordon-Levitt's Joker, Nolan has said a few times that he'll never use the Joker again. I can't really blame him; I didn't know Ledger or his family personally.
why this sucks because he ACTUALY HAD THE FORESIGHT TO LET THE JOKER LIVE, it is the respectful thing to do.
BBWWRRRRNNNN!
(INCEPTION)
BBWWRRRRNNNN!
And this is a bad thing how?
IMAX too, pretty excited. Chris Nolan has never really put a foot wrong.
I think this movie will be one of the best blockbusters in the last few years.
...and it was allll a dream!
I was hoping people would watch Next out of curiosity. Damn you!
But in Inception it might actually work! What with all the dream stuff...
no it wouldn't work.
This is part of what has turned me off of the trailers. Looking forward to the movie, but can't stand that bloody trailer for the sake of my ears.

Yeah an hour and 30 minutes followed by "Oh hey! Yeah, that was all bullshit, see I was just dreaming. My bad. Sorry for the past hour and a half."
Fuck that noise. :x
I actually liked that ending for Next. It seems like it was the only good part of that movie.
See, I thought it was the other way around.
(Don't think any of those are spoilers, but to be safe)
Then he started using his precognition to "clone" himself, and it got stupid.
I agree that being able to turn it off at the end was the best part.
My first thought when I saw the trailer was "HOLY SHIT THAT LOOKS AWESOME!"
MY seconed thought was "It better not have a predictable ending like 'Shudder Island' did"

Man, I think the sound is my favorite part. I'll be disappointed if there isn't at least one of those things in the movie.
So that's pretty much what happens every time he looks into the future.

I'm surprised this sort of movie isn't generating more buzz here on the forums.
The score, from what I've listened to so far, is really great, though.

Friday cannot come soon enough.
I disliked Batman Begins, but LOVED the Dark Knight.
I'm excited for this movie, but I guess Nolan is hit or miss for me. Also, the pattern isn't in my favor
Fuck, Star Trek alone probably did it a dozen times.
All of that said, I might still see this on the strength of Nolan's pedigree. But I hope it's more Dark Knight than Memento.
Really? I find it hard to imagine that you wouldn't like at least one of his movies.
