ohhh, so it is kinda in 3d, just the lame blue/red kind

I thought they just released it without the 3d effects and slapped the 3d title on it because that's what it was billed as in the theater

How the heck does the 3DS work, and why aren't they making 3DS TVs?

Not entirely sure about the first question, but apparently it only works without glasses on the 3DS because the screen is so much smaller than a TV screen.

It has something to do with being able to look right at it straight on.

I think I heard that non-glasses 3D TVs were in development, but then scrapped because basically only one person could see it and only if they sat in one specific place directly in front of it. Even slightly askew, and it looked like crap.

But since you're carrying around your own little screen with a 3DS, it's pretty much no longer an issue.

Yeah, Toshiba had no-glasses required 3DTVs at CES, but you had to be standing at just the right height and distance for the two images the TV was displaying to converge on each other (and on your eyes).

I got something that'll converge on your eyes.

Did Coraline come with regular red/blue glasses or polarized ones? I remember I got it and had the same problem with the 3D, but I don't know where I have it now.

Theatres either had polarized or LCD shutter glasses, the DVD and such had red-blue 3D.

Which immediately defeats the purpose of 3D because, while you get the enhanced depth that separates the worlds in the film, you lose all of the colour, too, which normally serves to set the worlds apart even more.

In the theater I only saw it in 2D. Still impressive visuals, but we're probably stuck with the red/blue home version unless home 3D gets far enough that they start rereleasing a bunch of titles.

Coraline in 3D on DVD wasn't too bad. Occasionally I'd slip out and, woah everything's green and magenta, but for the times that weren't it was really nice looking.

I thought it had something to do with the front facing camera on the 3DS. The camera recognize your eyes and setup the 3DS to display correctly.

Woman says she became pregnant after watching porn in 3D

An American woman claims she became pregant after watching a 3D porno.

US military man Erick Jhonson came home from a stint in Iraq to find that his wife was pregnant. Clearly he assumed she had an affair, but his wife Jennifer claims the “other man” was actually someone a little less physical.

It seems he actually buys her story, however. “I see it as suspicious. The films in 3D are very real. With today’s technology, anything is possible,” he said.

What's even more interesting is that both Jennifer and Erick are white, but the child is black. Jeniffer claims the kid looks like the black pornstar she had been ogling. She also claims this was one of the first times she's watched porn and only went with friends for the 3D effect. TechEye did a survey of one person and found 100 percent would say the same thing in a similar situation.

“Even though my husband believed in me, my marriage could be at risk,” Jennifer said. “But he knows I’m faithful.” It just shows you what joining the military does to your head.

Jennifer explained that “a month after watching the movie, I started feeling dizzy and the results were positive.” That must have been one good porno.

3D movies have gained renewed popularity since Avatar, but there have been some concerns raised over how bad they may be for your eyes. Now you'll have to worry about conceiving in the cinema.

You may have jumped when an object in film was thrown at the camera, but now you'll have to be careful of other, far more uncouth things flying at you. TechEye recommends contraception for your next trip to the cinema. You never know.

the best part is that this story was made up by a foreign language satire site (think Brazil's version of the Onion), but it got picked up by the American news media, who thought it was factual and started re-reporting it.

However the people in the story are quite real, and the woman in question gets harassing phone calls from random people calling her a "stupid lying cheating slut"

A 4 dimensional tv would be able to project an image onto a flat 4 dimensional surface, which would show up in 3 dimensional space as a 3d object. The only problem is that if a version of youself in a parallel universe wants to watch Project Runway you are kind of screwed.

Why are the glasses so expensive? What fancy tech-wizardry is going on that makes them different from the plastic ones you pull from a bucket at the 3D cinema?

I think they're the ones that need to get a signal from the TV. Instead of putting out two different polarized images that can each be seen by each lense, the way the plastic ones at the movie theaters work, the home glasses alternately flicker and let you see through one lense at a time, very quickly so you don't notice. The TV syncs with the flicker of the glasses, so it puts out the image for your right eye, then the image for your left eye, all at the right time. That takes extra tech and batteries for the glasses.

Yeah, Toshiba had no-glasses required 3DTVs at CES, but you had to be standing at just the right height and distance for the two images the TV was displaying to converge on each other (and on your eyes).

Actually they solved this (don't know if it's Toshiba tho).

The panel is split into 9 parts, so that there are 9 viewing angles (And this is just prototyping, I assume the segmentation will be higher before this goes to shops), so that you simply find one, as in, you shift slightly to the left or right on the couch until you're in a viewport proper, and then just stick with it for the rest of the duration of whatever it is you're watching/playing.

9 sounds good though, a good enough spread anyway.

Now the thing is that 3D will run counter to Motion Control.

It'll be a War of the Gimmicks.

I'm all for 3D now. Never wanted to fucking stand while watching or playing anything anyway.
