What Sprint plan should I go for?

EpicPhoenixEpicPhoenix Registered User regular
...if I already have an iPhone 4? I'll be making calls on my iPhone 4 (haha very funny) but I really just want to pick up an EVO 4G because I am a giant nerd who wants to have an Android phone before I start any hopes of a small Android app. I want good data, pretty much no calling, no texting, y'know. I'm on vacation and only have an iPad, finding Sprint's options has been a pain in the ass so far.

Firstly, one doesn't just "pick up" an Evo 4G right now. They're nearly impossible to get a hold of thanks to supply issues with the giant screens.

On your main point, if you want a data only plan, look no further than here: http://www.sprintrelaystore.com/ . It's where sprint sells their plans intended for the deaf & hard of hearing. $30 for an unlimited data plan.

    EPRP.

    $70 (plus tax) total.

    http://mcguireslaw.com/2009/07/24/psst-the-palm-pre-is-now-available-through-everything-plus/

$10 off the common public plan.

    http://delivery.sprint.com/m/p/nxt/epc/epclanding.asp

    Thread over.

(relay plans are only for deaf people, so unless you want to sneak in on that EPRP is the best option available to the general public)

Don't forget you can get a 15 percent discount with sprint if you are student or 10% depending on who your bank is. They also give a 60 dollar credit for new people I beleive.. Sprint has tons of discounts

But no at this point you can pretty much walk in and get one.. Sprint stores get the largest amount of phones but bestbuy gets a ton too.. Its easier to get from a BB store for some reason.. Just call around 3 or 4 when there truck comes in.

Oh and you don't have the option of not having text or talk.. Its 69.99 + 10 for unlimited everything... True unlimited data you can download 20 gigs and sprint wont do anything..

You know what you could do is cancel att, set up the Evo as a hot spot by rooting the phone. You get it for free then. Then just tether to the iphone.

    Click the link I posted.

    $59.99 + $10, save $10 off the common plans.

There is no actual requirement to be deaf to get on the relay plan. It's open to anyone.

If you don't want to do that though, the Everything Plus Referral is definitely the way to go. The first link Lord Jezo posted has all the information you need.

Couldn't you in theory get on the deaf plan, install skype and have unlimited data + Calls?

Other than the fact that Skype charges for calls to phone numbers, sure. I think it would work out more cost effective to have a voice plan though, since Skype's rates aren't the cheapest.

And the fact that it's far easier to maintain a stable voice signal than a data signal.

Just buy an AT&T Nexus and swap your sim card back and forth.

You're going to be paying a couple thousand over two years to get that EVO. With the Nexus you'd just be paying $529 one time. You'd lose the front facing camera, but gain an OLED screen. Yes, the screen is a bit smaller, but it is the exact same resolution. The Nexus is also THE developer phone, so if your goal is to develope, there you go.

The EVO is a fine phone, but paying for two seperate phone plans is silly when you can just swap two phones back and forth on one sim
