I'm really enjoying this show so far. I haven't had time to power through the rest of season 1 and then season 2 so I'm watching an episode or two a week. Deangelo is a really fascinating character.

i didn't really like him and then i had a bit of a change of heart with his dialogue in scenes after he killed the guy. he's ultimately a really sad figure and i had a lot of empathy for him as a result.

Favourite character was McNulty. Love me some fucked-up protagonists and they don't come more fucked up than McNulty.

First season though, I would've said Freamon. The entire unit's failed on getting even a photo of the Barksdale. Freamon pauses from his miniatures for a second, goes "yeah, be right back" and returns with a goddamn poster of the guy. Fucking Batman, that dude.

Lester and Bunny are my favorites on the police side of things. D'Angelo, Omar, and Bubbles on the street. Bodie was cool too even after what he did early on. I kind of like Zombie master/Chris just as a stonecold assassin type. Oh, and Dennis 'Cutty' Wise had an interesting arc. Kima started out okay, but then she went McNutty and kind of floundered and lost my interest.

The only character I just don't like at all is herc.

I haven't played GTA IV in a long time, but they had a character called Dwayne(?). Even though the two had very little in common, for some reason, I always thought he was supposed to be a nod to Cutty.

He was pretty tied into the kids in the fourth season though.

Kind of sucked that he wasn't really able to help any of them out besides Namond, in the end.

I always got angry that namond ended up getting the best deal out of all the kids in prez's class. Yes, his mom was a complete bitch and beyond a horrible parent, but he was a spoiled bitch who beat down the younger/weaker kids not when he had to (like michael) but because that was all he could do. I guess he was also a victim of his circumstances, because of his moms and all, but still, HE gets to live the ideal life with bunny? Balls! I didn't think I could dislike any of them more than Bodie and Poot (Pooh?) for shooting wallace (although I grew to like both of them immensely), but I'da rather namond had died on the corner instead of bodie.

the best we can hope for for dook is that he'll clean up his act in 20 years like bubbles, that michael won't die early on in his stickup career, and that randy eventually makes his way out of the youth home.

though I guess to think of it, folks change. namond could be like bodie, if we saw him later on, like we did with bodie. fucking...well written, human characters
