Enslaved: Odyssey to the West - It's Uncharted but with a stick - DLC out now!
Then there's a preview by IGN that's very complementary and positive. Most worthy of note is that the article gives the game a rough length of 12 hours, so there shouldn't be any complaints that the game is short.
I'm really looking forward to this. Every time something new is released about this game, I get more and more convinced that the end result is going to be good. What with this, Vanquish and TFU2, October is looking to be a good month.
I'm going to be honest - the whole concept of "It's the Monkey King, but EXTREEEEEEEEEEME" has me rather skeptical. It might be good, but for now I'm going with "cautious pessimism".
I don't know Journey to the West, but I've been looking forward to this game since the first screenshot and synopsis was released. Seems like a great spin on post-apocalyptic environments, sort of like "9" but more colorful.

Man alive, it seems like a lot of grief may have been spared if they never mentioned anything about Journey to the West.
Knowing nothing about Journey to the West myself, I am liking what I see of this game so far. Time will tell I guess.

No joke, the parallels to Journey to the West seem to be inflaming most people, aside from the romantic tones. Jaded motherfuckers with no hearts all up ins

If this game turns out to be like Ico with more smashy smash, I'll like it a lot.
I know you're all busy playing Halo: Reach and no doubt want to get back to it, but if you can resist the urge for a few minutes, a second Dev Diary is up.
Another find - courtesy of the Video Game Industry Thread - is another recent preview by Will Templeton, who posts here on this very forum as Willeth. He has a mostly positive opinion of it, which gives me high hopes that the finished game will be good. Nothing eases the mind like a positive reaction to a game from a fellow forumer.
Right. That's everything for this update. You can go back to Halo: Reach now.
Heads up, there's a PSN demo coming today, for Europe at least. Luckily making an European PSN ID is super easy.
Will be downloading it as soon as I get home.
Damn, they snuck that out quietly. I hadn't seen anything about it. Thanks for the heads up. It is indeed up on PSN and I have it downloading as I type this. In about an hour, I'll see what it's like.
Enslaved has, oddly enough, for months been my No1 most anticipated game for Fall 2010. So glad to finally play the demo - so glad it's as good as I'd hoped.
Can't. Wait.

Had a blast on the demo and it's left me feeling confident.
Everything looked and sounded good and the climbing and combat were fast and simple. I'll admit that I didn't like the way Monkey took a second to get up to speed when he starts moving, but by the end of the demo I'd gotten so used to it that I barely noticed it.
That said, I would have preferred it if a different part of the game had been used for the demo, since what you get is a part where it's basically just Monkey on his own. I had really hoped for some game play with both characters so I could see what the co-op mechanics are like first-hand.
Ah well, what I have seen has satisfied me.
And I'm looking forward to seeing how we'll handle that mech at the end of trailer that comes after the demo. Something tells me that hand-to-hand isn't going to cut it. :P
If I have one complaint about this game, it's that combat just isn't that deep
But fuck deep combat! I prefer God of War over the Bayonettas and Ninja Gaidens of the world anyways, so I'm right at home with this. And holy shit, the camera angles they use during melee combat are wonderful.
The platforming is basically Uncharted, so as long as they keep the setpieces as engaging as they did in the demo, this game is going to rule all over the place.
Animations are fantastic, especially facial, though the lip-syncing seemed pretty off considering this is coming from a Western developer. I really enjoy both lead voice actors from what I've seen.
Also I have a crush on Trip, which makes sense because I had a crush on Nariko.
It looks gorgeous (minus a few bad textures), the voices are fun (dig the accent of the lead), the animation is pretty great. It plays like the platform-y bits of Uncharted mixed with, wait for it, the melee combat from Jak meets GoW. And then, once you see the bits after you beat the demo, the Jak 2-nes really comes on hard.
It was fun, but I totally get the feeling that it'll be a 6 hour game with mechanics you'll be bored of within half that. Like Alan Wake.
Also, I'm pretty sure I know exactly how it's gonna end, based on the final scene before the preview clips.
The lady and dude will become fast friends through mutual hate and in the final bits, the lady will be dying and she'll tell dude how to remove his crown so that when she dies, he doesn't. Then he does, she dies and Kratos rage occurs on everyone's face. Then he finishes the trek to her family and tells them how awesome she was.
Still, totally worth trying the demo. This is the very definition of a rental game, for me. And I don't mean that in a negative way.
Huh. For some reason I completely blew this off when it was announced, but now that I'm actually reading about it, it sounds ... intriguing. Kind of a action-adventure platformer thing? Will check out the demo.
Ninja Theory being responsible for the reboot of Devil may Cut Himself has made me suddenly more interested in how this game turns out. From the videos this game looks really nice. Guess I'll be getting the demo this weekend.
For those that can't play the demo for whatever reason, here's a runthrough of it in it's entirety. It's basically the first fifteen to twenty minutes of the game. It's goes without saying that there be spoilers present in them there tags.

The IGN preview I linked to in the OP suggests that this should have a playtime of around twelve hours.
As for getting bored with the mechanics... well, there's plenty to do in this that the demo doesn't show you. Dodging around Mechs without being spotted, fighting Mechs with both close and ranged combat and making sure Trip doesn't get herself killed whilst you're doing it. There'll also be plenty of climbing and more than likely there are some puzzle elements involving Trip. Not to mention riding the 'Cloud'.
There are certainly more gameplay mechanics involved than there are in Alan Wake. If Ninja Theory have spread them out evenly, there should be a constant change up in what you're doing to keep you from getting bored.
And like Alan Wake there should be a good story to keep you entertained whilst you do it.
Wow, those vids made it look like it had some of the worst screen tearing I"ve ever seen, is that representative of in game? I cannot stand screen tearing.

I didn't notice any screen tearing, and that is an issue that usually pisses me off if it's there

Enslaved trailer from Gamescom
Enjoy.
Looks pretty damn colorful to me.
Actually, that thought makes me want to vomit.
Piggsy quite clearly makes an appearance in the above trailer at 1:13.
First thing is a Dev diary. There's nothing particularly new or interesting in it gameplay or story wise, but I figure it might interest someone.

Oh, almost forgot. Here's a picture of Pigsy and his belt-buckle.
Still looking forward to this though
maybe the competition will spur ubi to make more PoP2k8

Seriously, I walked around singing Come Sail Away for like ten minutes after playing it. Just playing it put me in a great mood.

A hair over 1.4 Gb. Since I rarely ever download demo's, I don't know whether that's ridiculously huge or around about standard.
Edit: Beaten.
'Cause that was fucking awesome.
My only beef with it was the music. Seemed really forgettable.
And if the game is basically Uncharted 2 with better combat I'm on board.
I can safely say I didn't think that.
It better be awesome
I've been defending Ninja Theory for a while now, and then they shat in my mouth with the whole DmC thing
This would be a kick in the balls for good measure if it sucks
